Well, it's a well known fact that BOPE would clean house...like they are doing right now...getting ready for the Olympics...
But, when you have a demoralized police force who just quite, damn that is just...effed up.
I think the US has been watching on the sidelines, thinking that Mexico was gonna clean this up themselves, and I bet the Mexican Prez was giving assurances that everything was/is taken care of...but damn, they have shown that they can't take care of the job. The cartels have gotten too strong and too out of hand, and now this has gotten of hand...gotten get this taken care of by Spring Break ::)

I realize a new leader would come up by the end of the week.
I also realize they have an excellent network that crosses borders making the smuggling almost a non-issue.

Please explain that one. There no way things could get worst. It`s not gonna change for the better unless something drastic is done, and making it more illegal just makes the price go up making people more violent. It seemed to work with prohibition.

Can't really blame these guys for quitting. It would be hard to put your life on the line everday knowing how corrupt everything is. They don't get the help they need. I wonder how long before they ask the U.S for military help.

If you go by a certain fucked up definition of "legal", it's already legal because the authorities aren't doing shit about it.
If it was 100% "legal", the government would put restrictions on who could sell it (see: the people who are selling it now).
The way it is now, the people in the government are getting paid to do nothing by the cartels, and the cartel members are offing each other. Yeah it's not the optimal solution, but the fact of the matter is, for something to be "legal" in a place like Mexico, the entire country needs a regime change, which will never happen, as Mexico is an "old boys club" society like most others.
The best northern america can do is try to plug up some border spots, but we all know they'll take the longer route via international waters; and convict the dealers on us soil.

The Cartels have been having gun battles with both the Feds and the military. What is a police force to them? They have more funding, better weaponry, and are a lot more ruthless. The police are largely corrupt anyways, mostly working alongside the Cartels.
Legalizing drugs isn't going to solve anything. The end of Prohibition did not end the mob....they simply moved on to other endeavors.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen pretty white girls in their daddie's BMWs in bad neighborhoods at night. Middle Class and Rich assholes consume drugs just as much as anyone in poorer neighborhoods.

Yes all you gotta do is take mexico off the coke highway to the states and alot of the problems are solved. This is the shit that pisses me off. The coast gard has turned mexico into a coke highway.
