Title: Dana White To Announce UFC Merger With the WEC

World Extreme Cagefighting is merging with its sister organization the Ultimate Fighting Championship.In the video interview below, Dana White exclusively confirmed that the merger will take place in January 2011. In addition, White said that four UFC events will air live on Versus in 2011.

The final two WEC cards will air on the cable network on Nov. 11 and Dec. 16, which means that starting next year, the UFC will absorb WEC's 135, 145 and 155 weight classes.

That lightweight division will get interesting fast.

What are they going to do with Henderson?  Will he have to start from the bottom the way Condit did?

The merger is a good idea. The UFC has been watered down with too many uninteresting fights or frequent events. This will hopefully make more for better cards.

did they really even need to announce this?....hell, the WEC has been the UFC painted blue for a while now....its kinda like a really gay dude who everybody knows is gay comming out of the closet....it doesnt effect anything ;D

seriously, i much rather watch WEC bouts anyway...maybe this will give me a reason to watch the UFC....the little guys put on much better fights..
