With Jeffrey Smith.

Jeffrey Smith is author of Seeds of Deception, exposing industry and government lies about the safety of the genetically engineered foods we are eating. Seeds of Deception reveals how industry manipulation and political collusion, not sound science, allowed dangerously genetically engineered food into our diet.

Guns and Butter - Monsanto Corporation and Genetic Modification
Quote
"Monsanto Corporation and Genetic Modification" with Percy Schmeiser. Percy Schmeiser is a farmer and seed developer form Bruno, Saskatchewan, Canada, whose canola fields were contaminated with Monsanto's Round-Up Ready Canola. Percy and Louise Schmeiser have farmed for close to sixty years. Almost on the verge of retirement, they decided to not back down from Monsanto's threats and intimidation.

Genetically engineered foods are not necessarily more dangerous. In fact, they can be less dangerous. For instance, they could genetically engineer grape vines to produce grapes with 100 times more resvaratrol virtually eliminating cardiovascular disease for all those who drink a single glass of grape juice a week. This prejudice against genetically engineered food is nonsensical. It's not genetic engineering that's bad, but what you do with it that is.

I'm currently reading Seeds of Destruction by William F. Engdahl.  It's very good.  Talks about Monsanto and GMO and how the EU was against it and most Europeans but eventually Monsanto and the US won out and got their way and GMO is not only in most of the US food supply but has now infiltrated Europes food supply.  I could give a shit about GMO but as a consumer I want to know EXACTLY which products I'm buying are GMO or have GMO foodstuffs in them.  Why do these companies and the US government refuse to label products GMO.  Because they know people won't buy them no matter what.
