Title: Official Mid-Term Election thread.
Post by: Soul Crusher on November 01, 2010, 02:14:19 PM
Thread for everything going on tommorow.

So far my guess is:

70 + in the house

8+ in the Senate - but could go to 11-12.

I predict - Angle, Raese, Rubio, Rand, Buck, will win.

Fiorina, Rossi will be close

McMahon, ODonnell, will be close.

For me:  in NYS - Paladino, Dioguardi, Townswend, Russell, Wilson, and straight GOP down ballot.

My prediction, Olbermann and the rest of MSNBC will report in shock of what happens in a manner to insinuate that most of the country feels as he does, even though the number will show otherwise.

The GOP will gain 10+ in the senate
The House, at least 70 like you said but I think the big surprise is going to be in the senate...we will once again see how inadequate, biased and misleading the media is in it's coverage that has led to this election.

Love it or hate it, this will be the biggest swing to the right in a century.

My "Hopeful" prediction, what I want most of all, hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of the progressive movement.

Hands down that would be a massive blow of epic proportions!

I guarantee you, we will see crying and screaming like we have never seen after this election. It's going to be awesome!!!

An O'donnell victory to me would be truly the icing on the cake to a huge night.

I probably would not sleep tommorow if she won i would be laughing so hard.

I think Meg is going to bring Fiorina down, although some might split their vote on that ticket.

I think Feingold is done.

I predict Barney Frank holds on, but that might be close.

Surprise of the night might be tancredo in colorado.

I don't agree with the way she ran her company for the most part. I think she's all smoke and whistles. Now, I'm not saying Blumenthal is a saint, he isn't

My Dad has done business with the WWE for years and says they are a completely up and up compsany in how they treat customers, vendors, etc.

For me - especially this year, I am voting out all incumbents and voting for those who never held office before.

Probably so, but why isnt owners of nfl teams being held to account for that stuff too?

For me, the bottom line is not even the vietnam stuff, but the fact that she knows business worldwide and will be a great voice for the economy.

she knows business. perhaps, but she did have some hefty layoffs if I'm not mistaken. This state is high in unemployment, so I guess the flip side is she can't hurt it.

NFL owners aren't running for office, but either way, I think juice should be legal so, IMO she was being a hypocrite

Not to be a jackass but being that Metallica is my favorite band, a little clarification. They do not have 23 albums. They have recorded 9 original albums, 1 album that was a double disc album of covers and one live album that was them playing their originals with a symphony...11 albums in all.

Albums: In order of their greatness

1. Ride the Lightening
2. And Justice For All
3. The Black Album
4. Master of Puppets
5. Death Magnetic
6. Kill'em All
7. Load
8. S&M
9. Garage INC.
10. Re-Load
11. *****

The last album is not mentioned by name due to its pure suckage.

Top "Eleven" Greatest Metallica songs in order of Greatness:

1. Master of Puppets
2. Creeping Death
3. Fade to Black
4. For Whom The Bell Tolls
5. Enter Sandman
6. And Justice for All
7. Harvester of Sorrow
8. Unforgiven
9. Broken, Beat and Scared
10. The Day That Never Comes
11. Blackened

It's not a bad song, I've just never been a huge fan of it. From the "Kill'Em All" album "No Remorse" is my favorite and "Hit the Lights" is pretty good.

And there is no doubt, the media will spin this one like never before.

Generic Congressional Ballot Generic Ballot: Republicans 51% Democrats 39%
rasmussen ^ | Monday, November 01, 2010

Republicans have opened a 12-point lead over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot for the week ending Sunday, October 31, 2010. New Rasmussen Reports polling finds that 51% of Likely Voters nationwide plan to vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate, while 39% are opting for the Democrat.

If these results hold, it could lead to the election of more Republicans to Congress than at any time since the 1920s.

With just one day left until Election Day 2010, these new numbers reflect an increase in the Republican advantage from nine points in each of the preceding two weeks.

I don't even understand why layoffs are an issue. Every single successful company in the world has gone through layoffs at one point. Does that mean anyone who served in an executive role in these companies isn't capable of running for office because of it? Great, we really need more career politicians who don't know dick about economics or business.

I'm not saying you're one of them but it's funny that there are people out there who think it would be better for a company to go under than lay people off.

Title: Election Results - Early Indicators
Post by: MM2K on November 02, 2010, 03:18:01 PM
Poll Stations still have a couple more hours before they close. I am listening to talk radio right now. And supposedly there is indication that there will be even more of a Republican surge than most people thought. It has been reported that Dick Blumenthal in Connecticut is getting very nervous. Even Coons' campaign in Deleware is getting nervous about voter turnout. If those people in supposedly the safest Democrat seats are nervous, I think this is a very good sign for the GOP. People are predicting a 10 point loss for Russ Feingold.

Rand Paul is projected the winner. I to MSNBC and all you see and hear are the 3 clowns (Madow, Olbermann and Mathews) trying to ridicule him because he wouldn't answer a question months ago about the Civil Rights legislation from 1964.

Cuomo, Coons, Reid and Blumenthal should have lost tonight.  The tea party fervor - elect an outsider no matter the extremist - didn't work in those particular cases.

I worked the polls today from 630am until 845pm.  There was a huge anti-Dem movement.  Rubio and Rick Scott winning by a mile.

Yep, Beck fan, and no shame admitting it. Even if you don't agree with everything he says or believes, I find it hard to understand how anyone can disagree with the core principles Beck basis everything on. Further and just as important, he is not a liar, people may not like some things he says but he's not a liar and that is worth more than gold.

Bachmann Wins Re-election in 6th District Breaking-MN
kstp ^ | 11-2-10 | wobbly bob

Minnesota Republican and tea party favorite Michele Bachmann has beaten Democrat Tarryl Clark in the nation's most expensive U.S. House race.

Bachmann wins a third term after raising more than $11 million and spending at least $8.8 million.

Her prodigious fundraising paid for months of negative TV ads painting Clark as a tax-and-spender.

Agreed. We're probably going to be looking at 2 more yrs of a stale depressed economy, Obama will more than likely not move anywhere near compromise. So it very well may indeed suck for 2 more yrs but these next 2yrs will destroy democratic party.

The good news is that the spending spigots will be closed. Even if the Dems control the Senate, they cant spend money that the House doesnt approve. Spending bills orginate in the House of Represntatives. Also, even though the Dems lost the super majority in the Senate a year ago, in a practicality sense they still had it. It was always going to be easy to get one Republican vote on financial reform and other laws. That will no longer be the case after tonight. We are now far enough away from that crucial 60th vote that we dont have to worry about terrible laws like Frank-Dodd. ONe of two good things will happen in the next two years: Either the economy will get a lot better, or Obama will lose re-election in 2012. Because if the economy does not improve, Obama will get blamed and will lose. It wont matter how he tries to spin it. Either way, the people have won.

I think you are minimizing the tea party a little bit. Exit polling showed that 40% of all voters across the country identified themselves as tea party supporters, leaving 60% that identified themselves as liberal, mainstream GOP or independent, by far making the tea party the largest influential group in the country today.

I agree it does say something... It shows me how the American public is. I'm not saying I agree with some of the crazy left ideas... 90% taxation and shit is ridiculous, but really, I don't see how these few tea party people that got elected really says a whole lot.

I see the crazy right wing getting in and they are going to do the same thing... Just watch.

It shows you what the American public wants and what the American public doesn't want.

I was very close on my predictions guys.  8 is still possible in the Senate and the GOP picking up 65 in the house.

Maybe I should start a polling operation?   ;D  ;D

tu_holmes is in denial.

I don't think I'm in denial at all... I think that historical precedence shows that the American public likes to latch on to anything that's different when they think they have exhausted all other avenues.

This is the same public who will vote completely democratic again if they do not see things improve in certain areas... That's all I'm saying.

I don't vote either one, so I don't care, but I think that making a blanket statement like this is like making a blanket statement that the country was now "liberal" in 2008 and that's what many many people did.

The reality is that it was simply a backlash against whatever the system was at the time.

I think you are minimizing the tea party a little bit. Exit polling showed that 40% of all voters across the country identified themselves as tea party supporters, leaving 60% that identified themselves as liberal, mainstream GOP or independent, by far making the tea party the largest influential group in the country today.

I'm not minimizing them what so ever... They are not a party are they? If they are, then great, but it seems to me that they are the same GOP with sign overhead that says "Under new management."
