Yea! 1997.

That was one hell of a great movie and was directed by Paul Verhoeven who also directed Basic Instinct, Total Recall, and RoboCop among many other great films. It won an Oscar for Best Effects, Visual Effects.

It was eventually followed up by two others for a series of three Starship Trooper movies. The second was OK and the third was terrible if I recall right.

You can buy the whole set in a Starship Troopers tin can for about $10 now. The first one is well worth it.

I'll try to find the video showing what some of those Starship Trooper actors are getting involved with today ...... BUT in the meantime, meet the BUGS!

The  second too were fucking awful, unbearable, I watched the first one about 15 times over the years, the second too I couldn't even sit through.

Starship troopers was like a high school special for the future,
The other two are a fucking joke.(you can't understand how much I hate bad scifi)

Denise Richards - hot in that movie
The athletic chick, "Diz" - even HOTTER
And the hottest of them all.... a young Amy Smart (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005442/mediaindex), who had a small role as a rookie pilot.

ST was a fun movie, but it was annoying in one respect: on average, it took something like 30-40 bullets to kill just one of those bugs.  By the time you fired off that many shots it (or another bug) could kill you.  Why didn’t the mobile infantry soldiers have more powerful weapons?  One or two shots should be enough to kill the enemy. If not, it’s time to upgrade your gun. >:(

Verhoeven was an underrated talent.

Starship Troopers actually has some serious depth there, but most critics couldn't (or didn't want to) see it.

It is basically a film about fascism.
