You are missing the point,

The happy meals were designed to get children hooked on McDonald food - it was especially designed to look apealing to kids.
So I don't see any problem with that.

So the government bans a PRIVATE business from giving kids toys. Whats next, mandating the purchase of health care?  ::)
Pretty soon prople will be required to exercise.  ;)

The parents should decide what the kids do and do not eat.  All the same food will still be at McD, minus the cheap toy.

How is everyone here missing the point of this!
The government should NOT be telling people what they can and cant eat!
And they sure as shit shouldnt be telling the parents how to raise theyre kids! (Theyre are a lot of dumb shit parents tho)

How the fuck are people missing wtf is going on around them? The government is way overstepping their bounds now, and no one is saying shit.
Our liberties are slowly but surely going out the window, and all anyone cares about is weather or not the candidates theyre voting for are republicans or democrats.  :-\

Were destroying ourselves from within, the politicians are taking everything we hold dear, and were just handing it over happily every election. Sometimes I think that we deserve it, if were going to be this stupid.

If that's the case why bother targeting kids at all :D

McD SHOULD market their products in a way that maximizes sales.  Then, the parents should decide whether or not the kids get to eat there.

Parents whose kids are getting fat from eating too many Happy Meals are still going to take their kids to eat there, toy or no toy.

That's not the point anyway.  The point is whether or not the gov't should be involved in this.

Your getting into should statements and are proovning you live in a land of principles not reality. I'm a libertarian for the record but don't be a hypocrit if you think weed should be illegal so should fast food. You shouldn't be able to target minors for anything it underminds the develope  of a child.

The ideal that people should navigate an entire culture of manipulation is a bit much. Your not even acknowleding the pysch of putting people in a world were they constantly have to be at odds with everything(commericals, salesmen, economic theory etc. Your putting people in a land of stress and ignoring the cost.

No I'm not.  I never said a thing about whether or not weed should be illegal.  That's a strawman you just threw out.  I've seen you do this before -  make up generalizations to wrap up your arguments into neat little packages, regardless of truth.

First, Happy Meals don't undermine the development of children.  Eating them too often does.  Also, Happy Meals are offered with apples as alternatives to fries, and lowfat milk as an alternative to soda.  In both cases, correct parental decisions are necessary.  As for the marketing point, you would pretty much have to stop marketing on all junk food, candy, etc.  Then you'd have to decide if regular products like orange juice should not be marketed, because drinking too much of that could lead to diabetes, etc...

The ideal that people should navigate an entire culture of manipulation is a bit much. Your not even acknowleding the pysch of putting people in a world were they constantly have to be at odds with everything(commericals, salesmen, economic theory etc. Your putting people in a land of stress and ignoring the cost.

So where do you draw the line?  Who monitors every single marketing decision made/to be made by every single company that advertises?  How is this even possible?

People need to be accountable for the decisions they make.  The role of the government is not to do this for them.  Unless your a complete liberal, but I don't know what you are because I assume you post with multiple accounts, probably with contrasting views.

I'm a libertarian

If you believe this, then you really don't understand the meaning of the term.
