Newfies aren't Canadian. They're Newfies. ;D
Recently did a website for a Newfie. Fucker tried to feed us alcohol at 10 a.m. during our first meeting. Cool guy, but rather strange.

exactly it's like calling the irish english just don't make no fucking sense.
FYI we joined canada in 1949, I'd view it as a bit of a mistake in my opinion, it's erode our culture dialects(there's about 50) away. However I grew up around it as a kid, and the open ended grammar shit has stuck with me ever since. I still can't tell what sounds wrong or right it all does to me. And newfies are known to bomb out on english( we have the lowest grammar scores in the country and half of us speak proper american english. (which means the upper half are supporting the weight of people like me :D

its a province of canada ffs ......
my point is, everyone all over the globe who speaks english have different accents .....
however ..... written english is almost identical all over the globe .... spelling is rarely different and grammar is almost never different
does anyone grasp that?
woooow this is hard work
-
its a province of canada ffs ......
Well aren't we the swift one today? ::)

ohhh shit..... ur not the sharpest tool in the box are u?
u dont know whats right or wrong because u dont read
grammar is universal ....there a loads of different accents though ......... alot of ignorant english ppl have a hard time understanding thick scottish accents ...... but they can both read written english because written english is the same in every book u can buy or pick up in a library
accents dont affect written english
-
Well aren't we the swift one today? ::)
lkmfaoooooooooo
how can "we" be "one" ?
are'nt we the swift one today .......rofl .... stfu and go read a book

Look up carribean creoles(belize specifically). And grammar is only the same around the world become the Bristish empire made it so. We spoke with a different set of grammar, than what was spoken in england. Just look at afrikaans and dutchs same vocab with completely different grammar. Or haitian creole and french. But I've just owned your ass you dont' know fuck all about the world. 150 years ago nobody spoke english even scotland had a load of gaelic speakers. If you think it's cool to for the whole globe to speak the same language with the same accent your just a robot, there's no point even talking to you.
-
We had a site in Gander.....glad I was never stationed there...

I'm tired of reading, actually, and the term 'we' in this instance is commonly used in colloquial terms to mean 'you'.
Sorry for any confusion junior. ;D

scotland still has scottish gaelic speakers ...... i live in scotland
every english written book u pick up will be the same, so that it can be read easily
so if i came to newfoundland and bought a book ....by a newfie ..... it would read "would of " instead of "would have " or " would've".........
there are so many different english dialects the world over ..... however every english written book is the same
u dont write a book in your own dialect .........
what kind of education do u have?

you would say ..... "are'nt we swift today " NOT " are'nt we the swift one today"
sorry for any confusion senior. ;)

I'm not too certain of the quality of education that Lundgren is receiving at his university....perhaps its an online course by Goodrum?
-

Same diff.
Common phrase 'round these parts bub. Seriously, who argues the phrasing of slang terminology, when the underlying intent of the phrase is unaddressed? You didn't grasp the comedic value of my original statement because you're not Canadian.
-
I'm not too certain of the quality of education that Lundgren is receiving at his university....perhaps its an online course by Goodrum?
lol
this character is surely not at university?..... hes not there to study english ....im sure of that
even goodrums courses would have (did u see that lundgren...."have" instead of "of") given this guy the basics of how to write a sentence
-
lol

I see this error occur across many public forums on the net. There are quite a few grammatical errors that are now becoming commonplace. The most ironic of them being, 'retarted', when referring to others.

He does claim to be attending, but there was some type of misunderstanding about him paying tuition.....perhaps he is just lurking around the campus, bathing in sinks and eating out of trashcans?

ur ignorant

Lol first off nobody isn't an exact word it's a phrase. Like nobody will ever like you. It don't mean nobody just considerably less than what's considered normal.
And the number of gaelic speakers was much higher in scotland, just as the number was a multiple higher in ireland. And no there's nobody writing books in poor grammar as their no market for that, But there's load of people here, that have shit grammar and would laugh their asses off if you started being some neuroctic grammar nazi.
-

I did my english courses a while back got a 65 in them which is quite good for someone like me. :D forgot all that faggit shit since then though.

yes ...also my favourite
their there they're the contraction for they are
i dont think its becoming commonplace as rhoads said i think its always been there ......
u either learn the difference between these words at some point in school or through reading ...or u never do

I'm not going to debate the point any longer after this, but you made it a point to reference the fact Newfoundland was a Province after I made a joke that Newfies were not Canadian, which implied that Newfoundland was not part of Canada. Your statement explicitly implies you didn't understand the joke. I'm beginning to think you're just yanking my chain by pretending to be this dense.

u say there were gaelic speakers in scotland and ireland ....there still are ....
people with shit grammar would laugh because they find it somehow funny which indicates exactly how stupid they actually are
this also indicates ur stupidity which is why iam now done with u!

Dude I ain't argueing with you, your probally just some brit fag that corrects people on how they pronouce shit. My grammar ain't shit it just don't reflect your rules of grammar. I don't understand how in a world of 10000 languages, some distant island couldn't of figure out it's own grammar set when it was settled before most of the western world.

Lundgren seems an ok guy but his grammar and spelling are some of the worst I have ever seen. It might be dyslexia?
Actually Ron himself writes things like 'could of' instead of 'could have'. It's become very common in the written (non-official) language.

I've said it a hundred times I'm dyslexic. And for me to magically get grammar without the abilty to properly read(I got coping stratdegies, I can peace shit together but often make errors. However that won't teach you written grammar, and I grew up around people that spoke all fucked up and it's not because there's retarted it's because they spoke with a 400 year old dialect of english.
Regardless scot fag your a waste of time.

Lol I read plenty. When I raed I see tihs, you culod tpye lkie tihs all day and I'd nveer ntoice. So grammar ain't gonna shine through and my main reference is my family. I was hard wired to not get your grammar from the day you were born. I'd don't even have that strong of an accent as I've learned to talk american, however grammar to me is still open ended. But dude keep up with your dense trolling you don't even have a post count.

i dont even have a post count?///
why is that important ......?
what good is a high post count if all you post is shit?
im about quality not quantity
are u suggesting i should aim to get my post count higher just for the sake of having a high post count number?
wheres the logic in that?

Canonically modern English begins around 1700 AD with Early Modern English preceding it from 1500-1700.

English if you will traditionally begins at around 449 AD, at the time of the Anglo-Saxon invasions, though the earliest written documentation we have dates from the 7th/8th century.
Old English 449-1000 AD
Middle English 1000-1500 AD
Early Modern English 1500-1700 AD
Modern English 1700-Present

Just academic dates really; it was never the case that there was a smooth transition from say, Old English to Middle English; just certain linguistic trends that people use for identification...anyway, boring stuff.
