once a week.
x2
Am injured though atm
-
I do back/front/legs then take a day off then repeat. I have done this for years and have achieved an elite level of mass (185 lbs) so think twice before questioning my procedures.
-
idk how you could really work a part more than 1-2 times a week, after a brutal pressing workout my chest and tris are sore as shit for like 3-4 days
-
Every 5th day.
-
Mike Mentzer style. Once every 27.5 days.
-
17X's a day.
-
Arthur Jones is God.
-
Speaking of Mr. Jones, he starting off by recomending training each body part 3 times a week, but later on in life he recomended anywhere from twice a week to once every 3 weeks.
-
once every 4 years...just to celebrate the olympics...

Usually about ever 6 days. Switch up all the time.

Don't you have a woman for that ?!

For you fellas who said once a week, is it really only once a week? If u train on a split that has an arms day, then your arms are getting trained twice a week, and if u have an arm day, a chest day, and a delt day, then your tris are getting trained 3 times a week, so its most likely that the fellas who said that they train each part once a week are really only training legs and bacl once a week.

Ok, each bodypart directly once a week.
-
once every 3 weeks.
I nail compound stuff (squat, bench, deads or bent rows) once every 1-3 weeks. Hit a few sets of arms and shoulders more often.. once every 1-2 weeks.

Yeah but that like saying your working your legs every hour because you walk. The whole idea is to isolate muscle groups so that others can heal, you may be using them twice a week but your trying to only fatigue them once and let them heal the other six days.
-
Hey james001, are u able to make improvements and get stronger on those compound movement (ie squats and deads) by hitting them only once every 2 or 3 weeks? I know dat from my personal experience that if I let more than 2 weeks go by (after bout 17 days) my strength starts to regress and go down, and I am weaker that I was from da last workout. Yeah man, Im a bit obsessed bout dis particular training topic.
-
once a week, more than enough.
-
Once a week.

Recently started something newin hopes to build size for competition next year
I work every body part 3x a week,
Example:
Monday -Upper body 6-7 sets, heavy 4-6 reps
Tuesday - Lower Body 6-7 sets heavy 4-6 reps
Weds - Upper Body 6-7 sets, light, 15-20 reps
Thursday - Lower Body 6-7 sets light 15-20 reps
So basically I do an average of 18-21 reps per bodypart in a week but engage both slow/fast twitch fibers
-
My split turns over every six days.....doing volume lately
-
Im interested if any of you fellas have experimented with seeing how long you can go btw bodyparts and still make progress? For me, da magic number is once every 6 to 8 days, and if I wait more than 17 days or so btw bodyparts I start to regress and lose size and strength. I've heard about others who can take 3 weeks btw bodyparts and still make progress.

Once a week is good enough. Hit it good, hit it hard.
-
I've had the best success when I used to train for size/looks with a modified doggcrapp program
-
I like the Max-OT protocol, but I just don't buy training 5 days in a row and taking 2 days off. I think that the max that a drug-free trainer can stand is 3 or maybe 4 days a weeks, but not more than 2on/1off, and 1on/1off is probably a better schedule for drug-free guys.
-
Three times a week. Probably too much but i don't feel like i am doing enough otherwise.
-
when you can train a bodypart 3 times a week it means your workouts are not heavy enough
-
SS and I train each body part once a month. 8)
-
Once a week now. But I'm just starting it all over again.
Previously did twice a week.
-

I do a similar thing (sometimes every 3 days, sometimes every six days). The whole "x times per week" thing is arbitrary and I've never understood why so many people shoe-horn their workouts into it.
-

I train very heavy, the recovery time is the same for me. I don't train legs though, not weights anyway. Uphill running is about all my legs get as i have to stay around a certain weight. :o...flame on... :)
I destroy chest, arms, shoulders, back, everything else...I always feel recovered in 48 hours.
As to what the optimal training frequency is, i have no idea, it probably depends on the individual.
Gymnasts train almost continually and they seem to do alright.
-
Day 1 - Chest and tris
Day 2 - Back and bis
Day 3 - Shoulders and traps
Day 4 - Legs (inc deadlifts)
-
Really? U are able to fully recover and make progress after only 48 hours btw sessions? Even if u aren't training your legs that is still pretty damn impressive! If I trained the same muscle group after 48 hours I would regress and get weaker. It takes me 3 or 4 days just to fully recover from the previous training session.

Well i am seeing considerable differences in my physique and i always try to improve either the weight i'm lifting or do more reps every workout.
I don't know whether or not it's ideal, Perhaps that is just what my body responds to. There is an argument that i may make even better gains training more sporadically. Who knows? For now i am content training the way i am as i am responding well. I may change my routine in a few months so as to make a comparison. Drop the frequency to twice a week per bodypart, any less and it would feel weird.
But in regards to strength and recovery, 48 hours seems more than adequate.
I think the best thing is to listen to your body and find a training pattern that suits you the best. A lot of guys seem to make a lot of progress training HIT, so i'm not going to knock it.

Forget length. How do you have enough gas to do both legs and back in one session. Fark.

How long do your workouts take ???
sometimes 2 hours. depends. i usually do high volume, sub failure, long rest periods. and thta takes a while. but soemtimes ill do low volume, failure, short rest sets. and i can get done with a workout in 30 minutes if i have one of those workouts, i usually use these as a "layoff" workout. if i have been "overtraining" or feel like i need it.
-

i did back and legs yesterday.
deadlifts with 405
unilateral leg press with 3 plates a side
unilateral lying leg curls with 120lbs
unilateral seated calf raises with 2 plates
smith machine barbell rows with 295
unilateral leg extensions with 100lbs
unilateral standing hamstrings 80lbs
unilateral standing calf raises 70lbs
pulldowns with 225lbs
pullovers with 50lbs
-

yup. I don"t think in terms of "per week"...it's a split and it's cyclical....just keeps going. throw in an extra rest day occasionally if i feel im getting a little drained

A great asset for the board, he should be awarded MOD PRIVILLEGES.

Hey tbombz, Im curious man, what do u think is causing your gains in size and strength? Is it yo long and drawn out workouts not training til failure, or your ocassional brief and short workouts where your sets are taken to failure? Just curious man

2x/week or every 5th day,, when focusing on 1-2 muscle groups can be twice a week or more ...working same muscle group twice per day is very good,, and is NOT only for drug users ,, but you must be smart about it,, .
