Tito Ortiz vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Targeted for UFC 128
by Nick Thomas on Nov 12, 2010 9:33 AM EST in UFC News
According to Tatame.com:
"Souces close to his camp said Nogueira will face the former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz."
Dana White confirmed the news with MMA Junkie.
This is a bad matchup for Tito, but at least he gets one more chance before getting booted....
-
At this point just about all matchups are bad for Tito.
It's ironic how back in the day, just a few years ago, it was Ken Shamrock in Tito's shoes.. kinda hanging on to something that's not there.. and Tito was the one making lousy comments to Shammy like "old man" etc. Tito lost my respect then.
Now Tito is very much on the decline, as was Shamrock.
Has anyone got any word on Liddell's future?

He wants to get KOd 5 more times before retiring...

Not a Tito fan in the slightest, but lil nog is taylor made for tito if it goes to the ground...
Hamel was just that match up that tito wouldn't want because Hamel (on the ground) is a monster

Tito was semi-good 10 years ago when he was on steroids fighting brawlers with no skills. Why is this guy still fighting? He is very definition of a tomato can. Being a sauced brawler with collegiate level wrestling does not cut it for you to be an MMA fighter today. Tito is obviously living of his personality and ability to create publicity. He does have charisma and the ability to convince the dumber segment of MMA fans that he has some real skills.

dude tito is a good fighter he could of one his last few fights why do you think dana keeped him around

For the same reason Dana brought Lesnar to the UFC: he has a huge fan base and makes money to the UFC. Tito as a fighter is an outstanding self-promoter.

Shut up gimmick.
Nog will outbox Tito and avoid the telegraphed takedown.

He is the longest reigning Light heavy in the UFC, he has never been KOd and has fought pretty much all the top guys in that division. He beat most of them and lost some close ones.
He is not the same fighter he was 5 years ago, and now that everyone has wrestling in their arsenal, he has less of an advantage.
I would not call that a tomato can.

Yeah, the "top guys" from the time he was winning sucked. That's why he won. The one decent fighter he fought, Liddel, beat the shit out of him several times. Also, he was on steroids and now that the UFC is drug tested he can't cheat anymore.
But I like Tito. He brings me good memories of the old(pre-Dana White/Fertita) UFC.........

The guys that he fought during his era, were the best guys at the time. Also, more recently, he took Machida to decision and had a draw with Rashad. Those are two of the top guys in the division.

Shogun will expose him for the can he is. And that is if he manages to even make it to be a title contender. Face it, dude: he was good when he was on steroids fighting inferior fighters. Also, taking Machida to a decision doesen't really mean anything since Machida is in terrible shape after his last fight with Shogun.

Huh? Read your post and tell me you can understand what you just wrote ???
BTW, do you seriously think these UFC fighters are clean? 99% of them are using PEDs ::)

What is so hard to understand? I am telling you that Ortiz will never win the UFC light-heavyweight title and he will never even make it to be a title contender.

He got a draw with Rashad who has won the title and is the current #1 contender. And, since then he's had back & neck surgery. Maybe once he gets his cardio back he might. It's not likely, but it is possible...

I think Tito has changed .. IMO he'll never come close to what he was .. the desire and determination was raw and intense and now he seems like he's lost too much of that

Getting a few bucks in your pocket and marrying a porn star will do that to ya....

LOL ... he was stupid to think that would last ... and twice as stupid as that to have kids with her ... she's supposedly a hell of a business and makes a ton but when your private life is a total mess what good does fame or fortune get you ?
he'll never be what he was I'm afraid .. and that is a shame

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO is it any wonder this board is a ghosttown 99% of the time?

oh come on, this board would never be busy no matter who was running it. I like checking this board and things are fine the way they are. It's the nature of the sport. This forum is not dealing with things that go down on a daily basis here, most of it is around events seperated by weeks and or months apart. Talk naturally picks up during events and dies down between. You can't guage the success of this board by how busy it is on a daily basis.
-
You're right. The inactivity here has nothing to do with the fact that the mod who runs it is completely clueless about the subject of the board itself, posts using gimmicks and threatens to ban everyone that questions him.

If that's even remotely close to true, you should think me angel of a mod ;D I haven't had that experience with the mods here so I don't know. As far as I can see it's fine...

first of all, the only job of the mod on this board is to keep it on track and minimize all of the personal attacks. I think I do that well. You don't have to know anything about MMA to do that.
That said, I've probably forgotten more about MMA than you will ever know. Just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean that I'm wrong.
Lastly, although I am able to, I never delete or alter anyone's threads/posts just because they disagree with me. The only people that are at risk of being banned, are those that constantly fling personal attacks, and are incapable of having a discussion about MMA.
That is all :)
-
I'm sorry governor. You are right about Tito never being finished before.
-
Lee Murray finished Tito.
