Title: How Woodrow Wilson’s Great Blunder Led to Hitler, Lenin, Stalin and World War II

Jim Powell, senior fellow at the Cato Institute and author of Wilson’s War: How Woodrow Wilson’s Great Blunder Led to Hitler, Lenin, Stalin and World War II, discusses how US entry into WWI broke a three year stalemate and gave the allied forces a decisive victory, how the punitive Treaty of Versailles and crippling hyperinflation from war reparations provoked a defiant German nationalist reaction creating an environment receptive to Hitler’s rise to power, Woodrow Wilson’s arrogant creation of new national boundaries that are still sources of conflict today, how disparate cultures newly lumped together fighting for control over public schools can be seen as a microcosm of inherently problematic centralized government, how Wilson dissuaded Russia from negotiating a ceasefire with Germany – enabling Lenin and the Bolsheviks to seize power while the Russian army collapsed and why government power is inversely related to its functionality.

Wilson also gave us the Federal Reserve, Income Tax, and a whole host of other disgusting things.

Wilson was a plague to this nation.

But to try and blame him and him alone for the Russian revolution, the rise of Nazism in Germany, the outbreak of ww2 etc is nothing but pure rubbish.  He may have had a hand in policies that led to those, but so did many other leaders and people not mentioned.  Just a dumb statement and looks like a rubbish book to me.

Fair enough.

His influence and impact is often underrated.

Treaty of V is often credited with putting into motion all the forces that caused WW1.

Absolutely, the extreme punitive measures (coming mostly from France based on feelings of vengeance) paved the way for hyperinflation and as a consequence fascism as recessions and depressions are the best atmosphere for demagogues to take over.

Wilson was a plague to this nation.

Such as the The League of Nations, a segregated military, a racist among the highest order even amongst his LON reps, i.e. the blocking of Japan in racial equality. The father of modern progressivism IMO and a hero to liberals for reasons that are beyond me.

Lets not forget centuries of german Antisemitism helped as Hitler could not only blame Allied Europe for the crushing economically circumstances germany face, but also the Jews from within.

Lets also not forget germany didn't stage a revolution to get rid of Hitler and many many millions supported him and his policies. For that they got destroyed.  I think the biggest regret of WW2 was that germany surrendered before the atom bomb could have been dropped on Berlin.  Oh how much i wish that would have happened.

WWII Saved the US Economy

That is a prominent myth but it is a myth. War NEVER saves an economy.

Sure, those were all contributing factors as well but the depressed climate of hyper inflationary Germany directly abetted Hitler in his rise to power.
