Im feeling depressed, instead of oppressed today. I originally started out being impressed, until someone expressed their success in maintaining excess which led to a downward process, where there is no egress from my current state of lack of success.

Its nice to see you openly worshipping another man.  Do you hope that he will take you to dinner one night or would you rather have something a bit more romantic and low key?

Gayer than working part time at the Hallmark store in order to get a discount on Christmas ornaments.

Vick is a great athlete but I am no fan of the man. He is a big zero as  a human being in my book.

Sorry...I moved along the day my mother and father wed.  That's more fitting for your Jewish brotherhood and these Rednecks in the Southern states. And of course their kinfolk lurking on getbig.   ;)

Like I said...there are North Americans who can't deal with North America looking like Brasil one day.  Cuban already has the 150 categories...so it's not a problem.  ;)

Wiggs whats your take on interracial families > real talk bro

Alright...truce for now... ;D

I think the most important idea for people that decide to get married that are from different races is to respect each others races and cultures...Whether you have children or not...From my experiences from knowing and interacting with other interracial couples often when certain "hot" topics come up, or when the filter is off i.e...drunk, or angry people say some pretty mean things about the others race, culture etc....and then that's pretty much it...because those subjects are so polarizing...

When my wife and I got together 12 years ago next week, a fella that mentored me in the military told me the best thing I could do, is ensure that our families didn't get involved or have any influence on how we ran things...I'm sure you and other people have seen families on both sides stick their nose into the personal affairs of others and I've seen many relationships end because of this...My wife and I while somewhat close with our families, (not me, I haven't spoken to my father in 1.5 years because he said alot of mean things about my wife) don't let our families interfere with anything that has to do with our household...They understood this from the beginning, then again, I've always been a recluse and done things the way I thought was white...I mean right ;D and I have no complaints..I'm 31 and have been with the same woman for over 1/3 of my life....Have we been perfect?  Fuuuuck no...but we both realize this and I understand how big of a fucking asshole I was with all the whores and among other things and am happy my frau decided  to give me another chance...

I respect my wife's culture and race and she respects mine. (although I know she wants to say things but holds back because she thinks I'll be offended..lol)..we both talk about the slew of problems within the black community but it's not something I dwell on because not to sound like an asshole or schmuck, I'm really not connected to it..there are so many reasons why...I'm still proud to be black but I'm not even a slither proud of the current state of affairs and that is the main reason I distance myself from it, I saw this as a very young fella as I didn't fit in and my father would try and  force the whole black experience on my brothers and I but we were raised by my mother, and my mother raised us around white people and white things...this was all we really knew and she kept us sheltered from all the urban things but we saw these things at school but never really fit in...thus the "uncle tom" moniker...in addition, my brothers and I happen to be very intelligent, especially compared to your average nog...(no racist)...this didn't help our cases to give us street cred ;D....So like others stated in that thread I started two weeks ago, I blame the hip-hop community, black parents for not taking the blame and putting it off on whites or not pushing the value of education, being bad with money, not setting a good example for their children, embracing "ebonics"....(oh brother) putting it in child's head whether conscious or subconsciously that mediocrity is acceptable, putting sports and other forms of "entertainment" above education and finally not teaching the acceptance of responsibility when something doesn't go their way and that it's actually not all "whiteys" fault...Bill Cosby got crucified by the black community when he said what I said but nicer...that should tell you alot if you know how Bill was viewed by the black community...Hip-hop really did a number...and while I like some of the old music the hold much disdain for the lifestyle and the way they portray black women...

So with all that said with my wife and I it's pretty easy for the race thing because I'm not a black guy in the way that alot of people view black guys...it's more of a guy that happens to black...our race has never been a problem because I conduct my self with dignity and honor not some 85 IQ nig-nog with pants around his ass and no high school diploma...

Now before I get gang raped by the other blacks here, I understand it's not all like this....But you cannot deny there is an epidemic on how fucked up things are in the black community and no one is doing a thing about it...

I think interracial couples as in black and white are more likely to stay together if they both take on a or have similar attributes of a culture...i.e me uncle tom and her German or a black chick and a wigger...when you have a thug and a uber valley girl kind of thing, I've only seen that work for sex and of course it didn't last...I'm sure there are some examples out there that worked...

It's only a problem if you want it to be...There will be plenty of problems being together being a man and a woman in general, no need to add another category to further complicate things.....If I ever have children, they will value the things I spoke of before but I won't shelter them from the world...They will know German and value the German culture and they will know the history of blacks in this country and black heroes, i.e King, Washington Carter, President Obama ;D...etc...they'll understand and know why many of the blacks, "are the way they are" so they don't fall into that lifestyle or rut...

BTW many may view me as fucked up, a sell out of sorts but what I do works for me and I'm happy...

The frau and I had/have everything going against us, she's white, I'm black...She's German, I'm American, she's 40 and I'm 31....it's been tough but IMO it's worth it and when people quit over what would be in my opinion something minor, it shows they have no fight or aren't willing to compromise.

Sorry for the dissertation style meltdown... ;D...I'm not going back and checking for any spelling or grammatical errors on this one..

I don't follow sports all that much but so long as he's cleand up his act and is a good husband to her and father to their children and she is a good wife and mother, who gives a Mr. Hankey about the color of their skin?  For some black men the color of their wife is important in their shitty little ghetto world.  I suggest that men try being a man first and foremost and not a black man or a white, red, brown or yellow man.  We're all human but some celebrate our differences (especially skin color) instead of the similarities.

Nothing personal, just using your post to make a valid point.  Hopefully  you don't mind.

Sorry for the dissertation style meltdown... ;D...I'm not going back and checking for any spelling or grammatical errors on this one..
I knew I would affect wiggs, somehow...didn't know it would be in the length of his posts ;D

Wiggs, what do you think of this "Benny Blanco," character??  ;D

I don't know how old Benny is...He's been around a while and through reading the posts I have seen I think it's fair to say he's an older black guy...His experiences are different than mine so his view of the world will obviously be different...While he is not liked by many on this board, one key thing to note that I think people forget is that he's not a dumb man...He's actually pretty smart but his bitterness jades everything...He reminds me of my father who is 53...He grew up during a time that some real shit went on and those events have shaped him and made them who they are...I'm not justifying it, I'm just saying if he is as old as I think he is, I understand it.  So it's easy for me to view the world in a more positive manner and not see or want to see racism everywhere because I didn't go through it...These guys from that generation did and they continue to see things where there may not be things and it makes them very unpleasant to be around.

He probably views me as a confused, sell out, uncle tom etc...

So, we will never get along and for the most part, I avoid him out of respect unless he chimes in with something that annoys me.

Now don't get me wrong I believe there's still plenty of racism but now it's much more subtle...I also believe that in most cases if you present yourself in a positive manner that people that usually put the wall up when they see a black guy will quickly take it down when they see your not a bad guy or a thug...Of course it shouldn't have to be that way but when thugs dominate the news what else are to think?

If I remember my genetics and DNA science, I believe we are all the same human species?
Unless we cross breed with the gray aliens from Zeta Reticuli, we have to breed in an inter-racial manner.
Culture and religion are things we learn but we are all born human.

LOL

Getbig was whining to the point of ridiculousness after the dog fighting crap. We had some gay pedophile bodybuilder pissing and moaning that Vick should get the death penalty or some such nonsense.  ::)

Vick gets the last laugh, as success in redemption is the greatest revenge.  8)

As Vick Soars, Stigma of Conviction Fades
By JOHN BRANCH

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Even Michael Vick did not see this happening. Vick, the Eagles’ starting quarterback, is one of the N.F.L.’s most electrifying talents and possibly its most valuable player in 2010. The fact that he is a convicted felon just more than a year out of prison simply makes him this season’s most complicated story.

“It’s as surprising to me as it is to everybody else,” Vick said of his jumpsuit-to-riches turnaround in a conference call with reporters on Wednesday. “But at the end of the day, I knew I had the talent and what it took to win football games. I just needed an opportunity.”

Vick, convicted in 2007 of operating a dogfighting ring, is the latest in a growing line of athletes who found themselves tangled in scandal and used the redemptive power of their athletic ability to scramble away from the sordidness. Few, if any, have done so with such unexpected aplomb.

With his attention-grabbing play, Vick has redirected the conversation away from what he did off the field to what he is doing on it.

“On-field performance is always going to trump off-field situations,” said John Lord, a professor and chairman of the marketing department at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

It has become a familiar cycle in sports. The N.B.A. star Kobe Bryant (rape allegations), the baseball player Alex Rodriguez (admitted use of steroids) and the N.F.L. linebacker Ray Lewis (charged with murder, later dropped in a plea bargain) are among those who have partly covered the collective memory of their troubles with sustained, stellar athletic performances.

To some degree, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is trying to do the same. He faced sexual-assault allegations (charges were not filed) and was suspended at the start of the season for violating the N.F.L.’s personal-conduct policy. And the golfer Tiger Woods, whose web of marital infidelities became public nearly a year ago, has yet to make people move on.

“If Tiger Woods had come back and won one or two majors, maybe eight tournaments this year, and reasserted himself as the world’s best player, much of the negative experience would have dissipated, much as it has with Vick,” Lord said.

The most stirring example came Monday night, when Vick had one of the more memorably dynamic individual performances in the sport. He completed 20 of 28 passes for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns, including one for 88 yards to DeSean Jackson on the game’s first play from scrimmage. Vick ran 8 times for 80 more yards and 2 more touchdowns. The Eagles beat the Redskins, 59-28. They had a 35-0 lead just nine seconds into the second quarter.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame requested Vick’s jersey from the game. The N.F.L. named him the conference offensive player of the week for the second week in a row. Chatter about his being the league’s most valuable player has reached a hum, as has speculation that Vick and the Eagles look like potential Super Bowl winners.

Vick and the Eagles will play the Giants on Sunday night in Philadelphia. The teams are tied atop the N.F.C. East with 6-3 records.

Giants Coach Tom Coughlin said he watched Monday night’s game. At some point, he said, he put the pencil down and became a fan.

Asked if he could truly be a fan of a player he now must try to stop, Coughlin came clean.

“No,” he said. “I got indigestion, a stomach ache.”

That might also describe how Vick’s countless detractors feel, those disgusted that someone who systematically tortured dogs is back making millions of dollars in the N.F.L.

Vick, viewed as the intriguing but undisciplined quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons when he signed the league’s biggest contract in 2004, served 18 months in federal prison in Leavenworth, Kan.

Weeks after his release in 2009, he was signed by the Eagles, one of the few teams willing to absorb the public-relations maelstrom created by Vick’s mere presence. Amid heated debate over second chances, set against a disturbing backdrop of animal torture, Vick eased onto the roster as a third-string quarterback last season. After Philadelphia unexpectedly traded its longtime quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Redskins last spring, Vick assumed the relatively anonymous role as the backup to Kevin Kolb.

But Kolb sustained a concussion in the season’s first game. Vick immediately dazzled and soon snared the starting job. He was the N.F.C.’s offensive player of the month in September and, at 30, is having the best season of his career. He will be a free agent at season’s end, which puts him in line for multiyear contract offers worth tens of millions of dollars — perhaps from teams that had no stomach for what he represented a year ago.

Until then, Philadelphia fans are increasingly daydreaming of the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory, with a convicted felon leading the way. It is a tug of war of ambivalence.

“It’s a naïve notion in 2010 to want your victors to be virtuous, yet it is clearly part of the emotion invested in any favorite team,” Sam Donnellon, a columnist for The Philadelphia Daily News, wrote from the press box on Monday night.

On Wednesday Donnellon said that the pendulum of public opinion in Philadelphia was swinging in Vick’s favor.

“The pulse right now is to forgive him because he just scored a bunch of touchdowns,” Donnellon said in an interview.

There will always be a strong-minded faction of people unwilling to forgive Vick and unable to muster a cheer for him. And there are some who never saw Vick’s actions as wrong — or wrong enough to deserve a prison sentence.

It is the gulf in between that seems to have been sloshing around, trying to keep separate what Vick did off the field from what he does on it, or making complicated judgments on whether forgiveness should be hastened by strong performances.

“Now do you go out hunting for a Michael Vick jersey for your 8-year-old, 10-year-old, 12-year-old?” Donnellon said. “What are you saying to your kid? That everyone deserves a second chance? I’m O.K. with that. But this soon?”

That internal struggle has plagued people, including Lord, the marketing professor and a longtime Philadelphia resident.

“To tell the truth, I’m changing my attitude a little,” he said. “I’m more willing to forgive and forget because that seems to be where the momentum is going.”

Since joining the Eagles, Vick has followed the well-worn path of public contrition. He has called his conviction the best thing to happen to him. On Wednesday he said that he speaks at schools and does work with the Humane Society of the United States, “just so I can help save lives and prevent people from going through difficult times and troubles that can be prevented.”

He acknowledged that his performance on the field was a big part of his reputation’s rehabilitation.

“Yeah, I think it is,” he said. “This league is about going out and showing improvement, and, you know, basically being a man of your word, and not just talking but doing. That’s what I try to do since I’ve been here, you know, just try to improve each and every time I’ve got an opportunity.”

It all feels far removed from 15 months ago, as Vick embarked on his postprison career. Fierce debate ensued in Philadelphia and beyond. Should he even be allowed to play? Did he pay a fair debt to society? And does forgiveness have anything to do with performance?

“You hate to say it, but there’s probably nothing that can repair his image like four touchdown passes and two 40-yard runs,” Andy Appleby, chief executive of Michigan-based General Sports and Entertainment, told The Daily Press of Newport News, Va. — Vick’s hometown — in August 2009. “Sports fans have a short memory.”

On Wednesday, his words ringing prophetic, Appleby said that Vick was creating an amazing story.

The question is just how much of his biography revolves around cruelty to dogs, and how much is about success in football.

“The beautiful thing about sports,” Appleby said, “is that you get to write history every day.”
