This isn't a question of "who would YOU vote for".
rather, how do you think AMERICA would vote? Don't make this a thread of "what media group wronged who...". Rather, what would the results of such a matchup be? In a general election between these two candidates, what would be the outcome?
-
Again - this is about electoral college - not popularity.
Obama in toxic in many areas like ohio, wisconsin, MI, etc and she might get all of the bush states undder the right circumstances.
If the economy improves forget it, no one will beat obama,
-
Obama. Palin's unelectable but she rules your mind.
I hope you lit your candelabra, put on your vestment, and bowed five times to the mural of her that you have painted on the wall. You know what will happen if you miss a bow...

At this point I would think 240 would want her to win. Think of the threads, the fascination, the CT's, etc.

I'm thinking it's more like extreme envy. He knows everything about her - she doesn't even know he exists. So, like the down and out school boy, he has to pretend he hates her.

I think deep down he knows emotionally and psychologically he needs her to win.

agreed..looks like you are finally on your way back to reality, 333....Obama would be very tough to beat...he is going to get 90% of black vote maybe 70% of hispanics due to his nomination of Sotomayor and opposition to arizona immigration law.....all he needs is 40% of white vote...maybe 35% if blacks and hispanics vote in large numbers....he would still win

Yeah, but it also depends on turnout. Many people who came out like no tommorow for obama in 2008 will sit hime in 2012 unless the economy improves since they will figure "whats the point?"

gotta agree with this

they'll stay home in 2012.
Unless, of course, the repubs run a highly polarizing candidate ;)
Somebody that the dems would want to vote AGAINST.

Yes and no if they get someone better than palin for sure I'm with you. But if they put obama against palin it will scare the shit out of much of the left, they'll just see another bush coming along, I'm a strong believer that palin cost mc cain the election.
She can't be put on the ballet, she will be giving a election to obama.
Regardless if with any luck the economy will recover, Obama can't be beat head with lame shit she gets on with. They need a ron paul like figure that can sway people with reason not rhetoric and childish smear campaign's, if 2012 is a rehash of what the tea party is doing now there sunk. You gotta sway people, without scaring the shit out of the young vote.
-
You should include an additional field which reads==>
No matter who wins that contest, America and the world is fucked.

Your numbers don't quite compute. Obama gets 90% of the black vote? BIG DEAL. Gore and Kerry got that but still LOST to Bush (the black vote is a lock for anyone, including Satan himself, with a "D" next to his/her name).
70% of the Latino vote? Don't bet on it. His numbers have already DROPPED in the Latino community, as evidenced by the midterm vote. If the economy continues to tank, that demographic will shrink further. Again, look at Bush. He got 40% of the Latino vote in 2004. If Palin can get around 30-40%, she's in business.
White voters? PLEASE!! They have bailed on him in droves (especially women). The key is the independents. If they keep going GOP, Obama is DOOMED.

That belief holds no water. You forget that, prior to the economic crash and after picking Palin, McCain was AHEAD of Obama in the EC and national polls.
It's the crash that doomed McCain.
She can't be put on the ballet, she will be giving a election to obama.
Why not? She looks GREAT in spandex!! ;D

Except for black people (and the supremely far-goofball left), there's no way America (if thing keep getting worse) is going to keep Obama in the White House, just for the pure sake of keeping Palin out, should she decide to run and is the GOP winner.
-
Too early to tell. If the economy still blows in 2012 then I'd suspect the Repubs could run a paraplegic chimpanzee and win. Why would they risk it, though, when they could run a solid candidate and probably destroy Obama in the election.
-
I think BF is on target - too early to tell yet.
But the most likely scenario is that USA keep on recovering economically slightly.
Not greatly, but slightly.
And most likely, it looks like foreign affairs is settling down so that won't take too much energy.
Again, this is the most likely scenario. Not saying that this is what will actually happen.
So then, if Obama is put up against Palin, then Obama will win.
IMO, GOP could probably produce a better choice to actually compete with Obama for the middle swing voters. But the alternative was Palin.
And then I gotta go with Obama.
But if the economy sours up even more - then all bets are off.
If the presidential election will be about Obama failing in helping USA recover economically, then Palin can win. But that of course depends on that economic scenario. Unemployment has to stay high, poverty et al.
Funny thing though - I saw that Obama got high marks in Gallup poll on his foreign policy.
So if foreign policy becomes an issue in the president debate, then Palin will have a very tough time with Obama.
Although I think she handled herself in the VP debate very well against a seasoned veteran like VP Joe "Fuck" Biden.

Gotta disagree here...doesn't matter what the polls say, Hispanics WILL NOT VOTE FOR PALIN..not after she has vociferously supported the Arizona immigration law...and you forget that Palin SCARES A LOT OF WHITE PEOPLE AS WELL.....many whites will hold their nose and vote for Obama..especially if the economy improves....

If the economy DOES NOT improve, white people and a significant numbers of Latinos will show Obama the door. You keep forgetting that Latinos ain't like black people. They're not just going to monolithically vote Democrat (Again, Bush got 40% of Latino votes in 2004).
White people fear UNEMPLOYMENT a lot more than they fear Palin. They will not hesitate to chuck him out, just for the sake of keeping Palin from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. A bad economy (say 9% unemployment or worse) means OBAMA IS AS GOOD AS GONE in 2012.

interesting
You forgot the "if the economy improves" part.

To early to tell, yes, I agree, no one can really predict this at this stage.
As for the economy improving, I'm not sure how anyone can say we're even slightly improving as of now, at this stage the best spin you can put on it is it's stagnant. Then you have the EU economy collapsing more and more every day, you have a U.S. government continuing to follow some of the same protocol as the EU and people see this and they don't like it and for good reason.
People can laugh at this all they want, I truly believe we're in for far worse economically speaking than we have been so far...the worst is yet to come and if that is the case and only time will tell, Obama and the rest of the democratic party won't stand a chance and hopefully the GOP members who have been a part of it won't either.
-
i hate to say it... but the most viable 2012 repoublicans were quiet, or somehow got on board, with the "we hate the AZ law" movement.
Jeb and Rubio were smart enough to support it. Well, Rubio flipflopped.
Let's face it - if you support the immigration law, you were probably already going to vote Repub anyway. But supporting it sure doesn't help anyone's 2012 chance with hispanic voters - who DO decide every election now.
