Pippen was the fifth pick in the draft and was basically the prototype for the modern wing player.  I wouldn't say he entered the league as "dogshit".

I also disagree with the under-rated sentiment.  He's a many-times all-star, many-times all-whatever teamer, two-time Olympic gold medalist, key member of six NBA champions, and a hall of famer.  He's widely recognized as one of the best players ever at his position (name five small forwards better than Scottie Pippen.  Larry Bird.  Dr. J.  Who else?  Dominique Wilkins?  Pippen was a much better all-around player.) and one of the best defensive players ever at any position.  Who exactly is underrating him?

I cannot believe he is broke!  I read an estimate where he only has less than 2 million dollars left in his bank account...

I think in his prime he was not considered a franchise player.  I think in most teams he would have been.

Odin knows how much he would earn today.

he got a judgement recently giving him about $3.5 million back.  he should be ok.

also, i grew up watching scottie, and along with jordan, they really created art when they played.  easily one of the best ever.

i actually bought "Ginsana" cuz of him.  it was later banned i think with the ginseng witch hunt.
