when I first started bodybuilding/lifting weights I was so naive and lived in a rosy world ;D I thought training and eating were the most important things. now I have learnt that actually you have to have a good source so that you have access to a steady stream of various compounds that you can pump into your body.

I spoke with a guy back in 1998 that allegedly knew Tom Platz very well.
The time he spoke of was when GH was first hitting the scene and allegedly Platz had an advisor (presumably a doc) helping him. The timeframe coincides with what gh15 has repeatedly said was the year(s) that top bodybuilders were first experimenting with GH.
Allegedly, the doc told Platz to eat a half gallon of ice cream every night before bedtime, so his body would not begin to metabolize his internal organs. Basically, that he needed the calories, which again coincides with gh15 saying that ever present calories are a necessity when GH is thrown into the mix.

This is what nature already provides. Naturals simply are stronger. AAS can make you strong but then other areas of your person are weaker, suddenly your cardio goes down, require huge amount of food and become large and sweaty. and so on, and so forth, So all in all eating vegetarian diet is the best way to raise your natural test.

This was pre-Olympia Coleman, and he was very honest about protocols and such. At the time, I weighed a whopping 170 pounds.
A competitive state level bodybuilder asked how much cardio Ronnie was doing, and Ronnie gave a bullshit stock answer.
Then, the follow up question is where it got interesting. "Well how much more do you do if you realize you aren't losing bodyfat quick enough??"
"I never do more cardio than that, I just take more growth".

Me, being completely out of the loop (not a bodybuilder, a collegiate tennis player), I thought "growth" was a supplement I could buy at the store.
He wasn't the easiest to understand, and I wasn't exactly hanging on this guy's every word.
My friend was there because he was already competing, and eventually competed at NPC Nationals after winning his class at collegiates (no, I will not reveal his name, but he bounced at a bar where I bartended).

For the record, Ronnie was making a lot of jokes, so he could have been just joking around.
But even at that time, he was the largest dude I ever saw.
There was a gym rat there (completely covered up even though it was 85+ degrees in the summer) who insisted he was as big as Ronnie, who to my knowledge, never competed.
In all seriousness, this gym rat got to be otherworldly humongous (like Trevor Smith big), but NEVER EVER dieted. He was a bouncer at a place where I did not work, and was always very cool to me when I would go to his place. I was too young to be in the place (strict no under 21 policy--yet you can serve/bartend at 18--wtf?)
When people would ask dude when he was going to compete, he would always have some odd explanation that he wasn't ready, he needed to bring his hams up, he recently had an injury, etc.
He eventually got so big and strong that he tore a pec, badly (like Stokely Palmer bad). He shrunk down to damn near a guy that looked like he NEVER trained. Well, I went back to school, saw him a few more times, and he got back into training. The gym owner that I knew very well would tell me that dude would train clean for about 4 weeks, then he'd be back on the sauce. He simply could not train without being on.
The gym owner was one of the coolest guys around. Not huge, openly admitted use in the 80's, and kept the place immaculate. Solid, old school equipment, and he even kept the old Nautilus pieces in very good working order. Knowledgable, always willing drop some wisdom on a kid who was going too heavy, to often, etc. Learned a lot from this guy. He even had boxes to so barbell stepups (Bulgarian old school shit) in the early 90's, when I was in high school.

You have to understand, I never competed, so I never concerned myself with getting educated on "contest" dieting. I have an older half brother that competed at NPC Nationals, so I was always around training, from the time I was around 7 or 8 years old.
I had heard all of the stories about GH and Platz, specifically the tale that Platz would eat an entire half gallon of ice cream each night so as not to waste away.
Do you believe that this could be factual?

dude, its closer to truth than you might believe. i dont necessarily believe half a galon of ice cream, but with the amounts of GH and thyroid meds guys are running, contest prep is less about dieting and more about the chemicals to offset a slack diet.
