Title: Electrical Question...sync pulse?
Post by: Butterbean on December 01, 2010, 06:40:54 AM
There is a section of our house that sometimes the electricity works and sometimes it doesn't.  The outlets affected are for stuff outside as far as I can tell.

It'll be off for awhile and then be back on...does this by itself.  Any ideas ???

Upgrade your fire insurance...... 8)

With the electrical system, I wouldn't mess around, just get an electrician out to have a look.  Way to much potential for fire.

with it sometimes working it can be a poor connection inside the box .. but I wouldn't mess with it

It's odd that happens without being jarred or disturbed somehow .. could be a little corrosion on your wires .. it should be inexpensive for an electrician to check it out .. stuff like that makes me nervous for fires

High resistance connections get hot and can cause fires...

Having been zapped twice by a meager 120v outlet I can personally tell you getting electrocuted is NOT fun, those were just partial zaps from crossed circuits, etc.  I can't even tell you what would happen if (especially if it's connected to the elements) you got electrocuted off an outlet outside with additional moisture/bad connection/etc.

Hey Princess...read a short article about putting Peppermint Oil on Cotton Balls as a mouse deterrent.  I guess they have "asphyxiative" properties that affect some animals so be very careful if you do this not to put them near where Scout and Shelby can go....They said attics, basements, garages etc.  I'd only put them where the dogs can't get near them though so forget the garage for sure.  Maybe only the attic and/or storage area in the basement or crawlspace.
