Title: Any Blackadder fans?
Post by: Wiggs on December 04, 2010, 12:29:55 AM
IMO one of the best series EVER...I've always been a huge Rowan Atkinson fan...He's fucking brilliant...Don't forget about Tony Robinson as his bitch, Baldrick....If you have Netflix, the series is now on there....Warning: It's British humor
Some might not like or even understand it.

Faulty Towers yes, Because I'm a huge fan of Monty Python series...I've never heard of Father Ted...
My love of British TV came from me living overseas...I hated it at first because I was brainwashed by the crappy sarcasm of American comedy...I grew to love British Comedy and still watch it any chance I can...I like Keeping up Appearances and Are you being Served?....The only American comedies I watch are Seinfeld and Frasier.

Haven't seen either for years but liked him in both Blackadder and Mr. Bean (not the movie).  I remember 'Merry Xmas, Mr. Bean' had me in tears.

FAther ted was so cynical of the church it was banned in ireland for ages... its probably the funniest thing around

3 Priests on a fecking island - Father Ted (the brain of the operation without much of a brain himself) Father Jack (full time alcoholic, violent, cruel, foul mouthed and pretty much drunk all the time)
Father Dougal (complete fucking moron)

There are many other priests in that series some of them hate each other, its a complet piss take of the church of Ireland, for excample Bishop Brennan who hates Ted so much he would love to kill him
you see him sometime taking a bath in a golden bathtube with a naked girl :D
Its hysterical most of the time and total cult here.

Go to the below youtube link and go to 03:00 min :D

the US always makes the best drama tho, soppranonos, 24, etc etc fucking excellent

Yep, Blackadder was good, but my favourite was the final series set in World War I. Had one of the best and most poignant endings in British TV history IMO.

Only Fools And Horses was excellent too as well as The Royle Family.

Fr Ted is enjoyable.  It is worth watching a few episodes but I think it has been made a cult moreson because the actor who played Ted died. I regularly see it on but flick past it

The Office, Peep Show and Summer Heights High are much better IMO

His series of free podcasts are also hilarious. More so due to Karl Pilkington (a radio producer from his old show)

The bit where he was dressed as an emu was hilarious. Sometimes you feel for him and other times you want to violently beat him.

It was oringinallya  podcast made into an animated series with Gervais, Steven Merchant and Karl Pilkington.

Totally agree.....it was that uncomfortable factor that really made the show so funny....go from feeling bad for him to just waiting to see the car wreck that you knew was coming...

Yes.  British humor (humour?) is at times, "dry" but then so is a good martini.
