check your eyes.

Jay appears to have better taper, tight waist even his arms are better than Ronnies in that pose.

Ronnie=better arms, back detail, even a X-mas tree
Jay=more wrinkles in his lower back than a bassett hound's face.

it was jays best year and he had to kill himself to be even comparable to ronnie.

But ronnie wone EASILY!

What ronnie gets more naturally due to his bodystructure and epic black genetics Jay has to almost dry his kidneys to even look upon ronnie from below, and even then jay has wider waist and wrinkly lower back.... superior white genetics  ::)

And look at those legs, ronnie's looks like daemond detail crispyness. Unlike Jay.

Fact.

Look at it from the waist down (no homo)...... its not even a contest, Ronnie is in a different class to Jay.

If you have actually competed, which i doubt, you should notice that Jay isnt contracting his hamstrings and glutes completely in order for the striations to appear.

So you're saying Jay hasn't done enough posing practice and thus loses out on the pose. Thank you for agreeing with me  ;)

Oh, and I've been in 6 bodybuilding comps including Nationals and placed top 2 every time. Thanks for playing  ;)

He's obviously too unfit to hold his poses.... Ronnie for the win. Branch thinks bad posers are pussies. Branch for the win.

Jays back upper back looks harder and better detail. Can hardly call that a christmas tree on Ronnies lower back, just looks glossy and smooth and jays is just as bad if not worse with wrinkles.

And Ronnie hasn't fully brought his arms down, contracting the back ;) ;D

A moment caught in time , photos do no justice to the competitors.People that were there see it all.
I was still buying the mags back then and they all said Jay was robbed that year  :'(

Jay wins that pose hands down. The photo is deceptive because will Will Grant says above - it was caught in time - a fraction later and you would have also seen Jay contracting his glutes and hams which would have brought him into line with Ronnie.

To be honest, Ronnie was gifted a few Olympias in his time, 98 was one of them, then was another. Levrone arguably beat him as well one of the years.

Ronnie has the superior back, glutes, hams...Jay has a decent back, but has tons of wrinkles in the lower back...if things were reversed, it would have gone to Jay...fact is, Ronnie is expected to have a superior back, so anything less than stellar, is a lose in most books...Ronnie was never "knocked out" in any Mr. O he won...Jay on the other hand was...

1998, Ronnie won hands down over Flex, Flex didin't come in his 98 Arnold shape, which killed his chances....you lose credibility in saying that Ronnie was gifted 98's win, even Milos, Levrone, Flex and Nasser  agree that Ronnie won hands down.

You are right. That pic has 0.33 megapixels. A human eye can see with a definition of 100's of megapixels. I don't know if you can compare the two like this but there's a clear difference.

i actually dont agree,,,,,, ronnie has a littel more hanstring detail

but if you look closely, a lot of has to do with skin color, ronnie is darker, the definition is little more apparent..........but if you look close, jay has the detail too

and dont forget how much better jays calves are

just my opinion

.

that shows how a single screen capture of  bodybuilding event can be misleading

in a photo one guy might be realaxing for a moment, or in transition, or taking a deep breath.........and the other guy is in the middle of a pose

which might mislead one to believe the first guy is losing, which he might not be , its just  a moment in time

Jay won even in back double biceps.
...Ronnies glutes are striated and hams are more shredded...total back is more defined and thick..the only knock is that ronnies arms are too forward in that pic thus making Jays properly posed arms look bigger...Ronnie wins...

Jay won even in back double biceps.

Very hard to call. I would say Jay won in muscularity and presentation, but Ronnie was still overall superior. I have watched the video of the show, and Ronnie, even off, was so superior in aesthetics, balance and structure that he clearly won in my opinion. Ronnie is just plain genetically superior to Jay when it comes to bodybuilding.

I believe that it's fair to say that Jay trying to beat Ronnie on lines, symmetry, balance and condiitioning doesen't work. Ronnie is just so superior at a lighter weight that there is no competition. The only way Jay could beat Ronnie would be going for size. I believe that Jay's 2006 version would beat a smaller Ronnie. Jay was huge at 278 lbs and very dry. I can see a very dry Jay at 280 lbs overwhelming a 247 lbs Ronnie, even though Ronnie would still be far superior when it comes to a bodybuilder look.

My point is that huge Jay is not as inferior to Ronnie as little Jay is. Jay was right in trying to match Ronnie for size. Trying to be a more balanced, drier and symmetrical version of himself wouldn't work against Ronnie because Ronnie is so superior at all these categories.

Nope....look carefully at Jay's lower back versus Ronnie's. You need to topple the champion to win in all aspects which Jay did not. Close but no cigar.

That is easily the best the fridge has ever looked, but if you watch the video Ronnie still kills him.
That's also the show the fridge failed the diuretic test.
