1. GSP has to put on a show in front of all HIS Canadien fans. The pressure is very much on him in this fight, NOT KOZ. Pressure to shut Koscheck up in front of his crowd must be HUGE.
2. Koz, in his first fight with GSP, wasn't nearly as skilled as he is today, especially in terms of striking. Today, he's a much more aggressive fighter. Better striking etc. Look at his striking against Daley.. and then again against Rumble. His striking was REALLY good then. Much better than when he first fought GSP.
3. NERVES. In the first match, I imagine Koscheck's nerves to be completely a wreck, as it was his first title shot with none other than GSP. Nerves woulda played a huge part of it. This second fight, it'll be "been there, dune that" and I don't think Kos will be as nervous.
4. GSP is feeling pressure to finish fights. This disrupts his flow and how he fights immensely. He hasn't ever been a finisher. Trying to do so now will only hamper his ability to win this fight.
Just a few reasons why Kos is winning this weekend.
-
Valid points. However you are leaving out one important factor.
There is only one reason why Koscheck won't win.
He's Josh Koscheck.
End of thread.
-
::)
Please..
-
Sure GSP is heavily favored, etc, but I don't think ppl are giving enough credit to Kos' ability.
I really think it's gonna be a great fight. And i've always said GSP is a tad overrated. Guy just can't finish fights.
-
If Kos wants the belt he has to go and take the belt or he will lose another decision.
...and I"m talking he needs to be all up in GSP's chest, going for it, risking getting ko'd or sub'd himself if he has to. He must go all out.
-
Who has Koscheck beaten exactly? I think some of you want this fight to be competitive so you are convincing yourself Koscheck is legit.
Nobody would be the answer. He's a big mouth douchebag who can wrestle but is garbage as a striker Im sorry-- Headkicking some Japanese can and beating another wrestler to the punch (Rumble) doesn't earn you any points in my book. Not only that, against a superior striker ( Like Daley), he had to strictly rely on his wrestling and barely won a bullshit decision (when he wasn't pretending to be kneed in the face).
Koscheck is nothing more than a one dimensonal shit talking bully who's claim to fame in the octagon is losing to GSP 29-28 on all the judges scorecards 4 years ago.
-
What??! Garbage as a strikers?
Your assessment of Koz is WAY off dude. I generally give you credit for your opinions, but to say he's basically a good wrestler is not accurate. As for his record, he went the distance with GSP, albeit being dominated for most of the fight. He out-striked Daley and Rumble, both very good strikers. And his wrestling isn't just good, it's excellent. He's also beaten Sanchez.
Look passed his record for a minute and understand that the dude has improved greatly since his last fight with GSP. You're just biased cause he's got a big mouth and acts like a pecker.
Granted, GSP is highly favored and will probably win the fight, but you can't deny he's not a good mma practitioner.
Your last comment is making me doubt your credibility.
-
Are we talking about the same Josh Koscheck?
He did not outstrike Paul Daley. That is nonsense. He took him down and won on points because of his wrestling. He barely even pretended to strike standing up as the fight progressed. Did you watch the fight?
Secondly, Rumble is a wrestler. Yes he has long arms and legs, but he's a wrestler that is about as unpolished a striker as Koscheck. Outstriking him is unimpressive to say the least.
Finally, that jap he knocked out had no business being in the UFC to begin with.
GSP has fought much better comp to a 20-2 record and has vasty improved since 2007. Koscheck is 13-4 and lost every big fight of his life including last year to Paulo Thiago. You act like GSP has gotten worse and Koscheck has become better. Koscheck has become a marginally better striker and dominated shitty opponents. GSP has become better at all aspects (especially submissions) and completely dominated the best the division has to offer. Comparing these two at this point is laughable.
Is Koscheck a "good" MMA practicioner? He's ok-- he can wrestle and he can beat up on cans-- Fact of the matter is that his best fight in the UFC was one he lost by unanimous decision to GSP. Good fighters usually have signiture wins on their resume. All Koscheck has on his resume is a loss to GSP and a bunch of shit talking sound bytes.

GSP has earned respect in and out of the octagon .... his ability to be as good as he is comes from intelligence , faith , skill and dedication ... Koscheck is too immature and arrogant .. until / unless he grows up and gets serious he'll never come close to GSP status
-
Hahahaha, you seriously thought Kos was going to win... Ahahahaha
epic kos will be wearing an eye patch for the next 6 months, lol
-
That was a disgrace.
Thiago Alves should fight GSP next. If GSP wins, he should move up to fight anderson and then retire. Koscheck had no business being in the octagon with him ( as I said) and neither does anyone else at WW.
-

No shit. He looked a fucking mess.
His jaw was sending some kinda special SOS signals too. He could have passed as someone who just had a lobotomy.

Complete and utter domination by GSP,from now on name him Jab St Pierre. On the plus side for Josh,at least if he wears an eye patch he might get a part in a pirate film.

I hope the little bitch has to have a male nurse take care of his crushed eye socket !!!
LOL @ the hug @ the end of the fight ... " I'm sorry I talked so much shit .. I was just "joshin" .. I knew you could beat my ass "
-
Kockcheck got a whooping. ;D
-
Disappointed it went 5 rounds, but GSP put on a boxing show last night. I think everyone can agree there isn't that many jabs throw in 5 rounds of boxing. ;D
-
That's why GSP is one of the greatest fighters of all time and IMO the best P4P-- Even in a fight where he stays in the pocket and throws jabs, he is dominant. He inflicted tons of damage without being wild and reckless- he was aggressive without ever being in danger of anything. He fought a smart, clean, picture perfect fight, was in phenomanal shape and at the end was almost too nice and made the hometown crowd give Koscheck a round of applause. To me, until further notice- Theres the WW division and there's GSP. The two shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence.
-
So I guess even I saw that coming. Just thought kos would've been more aggressive like he has been in his past few fights. Quite an eye swelling. You love to see the day after pic.
-
So, go again or have you had enough? ;D
This dude at the bar I went to last night said that JDS+ Velasquez, Bader+Jones= on the same card
I am fucking psyched if thats the case
-
I wanna see what our overall records are. But yes that is the Feb card
-
JDS- Velasquez
Jones- Bader
Anderson- Vitor
^
Best UFC card ever top to bottom; Basically 3 main events in one. 2 Belts on the line. Lets skip the January 1 card which is a complete and total bore.
I'm taking Velasquez, Jones and Anderson
-
JDS- Velasquez
Jones- Bader
Anderson- Vitor
^
come on now...
get your facts straight !
-
I asked Coltrane if that was the card-- apparently Vitor isn't fighting Anderson but the other two are fighting.
Is that ok with you? Do I need to conduct some more research to get my facts up to par? ::)
-

When did we ever meet at the bar? ::)
Nice attempt at throwing me under the bus.
-
Um, retard- I said someone told me that, you replied by saying
But yes that is the Feb card
It turned out we were both wrong.
How is that throwing you under the bus?
-
No, RETARD, you said COLTRANE told me that. Which i didn't. I maybe agreed with you, but didn't TELL you that.
SOMEONE at the bar told you that. Don't make me look like the idiot.
-
Your mindless overreaction is making you look 15x more stupid than my wrongly perceived attempt to throw you under the bus. Do you want a fucking box of chocolates and a greeting card apologizing? Grow up and try picking some fights correctly you geek.
This is what I wrote: I asked Coltrane if that was the card-- apparently Vitor isn't fighting Anderson but the other two are fighting.
The reply (after you wrongly agreed with me) was something along the lines of me needing to get my facts straight.
The point is that I did ask you and you wrongly replied that my assumption was correct--- Do you not know how to read, or do you just have a lot of free time today?
I'm deeply sorry for injuring your getbig.com prestige all mighty one. ::)
-
It is "almighty"
Point is you didn't ask me anything. Then you claimed you did. If you had written "coltrane, what are the fights for the next ufc" or something of the like, you'd be ok. You didn't.
Some guy at the bar told you that, not me.
You can't win on this one Georgie. You're caught!
-
And i have a strong suspicion you modified your comment of "Coltrane told me...." to "i asked coltrane...."
crafty one
-
We have now bet on 3 ufc events, some including undercards. The totals are as follows:
GW: 10/21
Coltrane: 9/21
Seeing how we're neck and neck, I propose, for ALL bragging rights, UFC 126, Silva v. Belfort.
Are you in?

The only number that counts is 3 main event wins- zero in that period of time. We can go all in for Silva-Belfort ( I already said Im picking Silva), but I think that the Cain/ JDS card in february is much better for bragging rights. I mistakenly thought Anderson was on the card, but JDS- Velasquez, Jones-Bader and Franklin- Griffin is much better for bragging rights no?
-
I don't think JDS CAIN is on that card.
It is:
Silva/Belfort
Griffin/Franklin
Bader/Jones
I don't know when Cain is.
Winner is based upon most picks correct, NOT just the main event. That's lame. Will run the whole card too.
-
Yeah I don't think so either. At first the fight was supposed to happen in February, now supposedly its March. So who the fuck knows. No formal announcement has been made yet.
Oh well.
I'll take Silva, Franklin and Jones.
And I guess undercards count, but who cares about prelims or the first fight on a card? I don't exactly use a scientific method to pick those fights-- its whoever I like personally or whoever is fighting someone I don't like. The main event makes all the difference.
-
I'll be going with Jones for sure.
As for the other fights, i'll do my research. ALL the bragging rights are on the line here.
Can't wait for this card though..
