William Phillips, AKA Bill Philips, had this magazine in the 1990's called MuscleMedia where he used it essentially to promote the supplements from his company EAS. Whatever happened to that guy? He had that "Supplement Review" book where he trashed all supplement companies except his own of course. He went into fitness because there was more money to be made there, but his company seem to have disappeared. Did he go broke? Where is he? He had some funny shit to say espicially about the pros. I remember that the guys from FLEX, like Julian Schmidt and that guy Jim Schmaltz hated his guts.

he started out as nathanial phillips and wrote a steroid how to book. his brother shawn used to write articles for him under the name brad jeffries.
-
He was pretty loaded, wasn't he? His "Body for Life" campaign was a huge success in many countries.
Also liked EAS Whey protein - great taste. Not sure if it's still around.

He sold the company so he's loaded... He lives on a beach in Hawaii last I read and just does whatever he wants.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Guy was a steroid dealer who tried going legit and succeeded extremely well. Same basic story as so many other bodybuilding/fitness supplement companies we see. This is a popular formula.
-
it ain't marketing, it's all drugs

Is EAS still around?

It was the first magazine to have entire articles about drugs. Dan Duchaine used to write for them.

Maybe, the rap on him was alledgely that he got connected as an "advisor" to popular athletes and had some success there. Pat Arnold once told a story about him boosting a certain famous Lion of a bodybuilder's drug stash and had to leave Venice for many years. Not sure how true it is, but lots of oldtime guys on Misc.weights.fitness swore to it.
Later, he hooked up with the Met-rx guys and then broke to form EAS. This isn't so much of a local guy makes good story, as the family was already well off and had a piece of it too. His dad was a high end lawyer, who was said to of helped him out some.

it was fucking amazing, dan duchaine wrote for it,.........awesome steroid knowledge
then i remember i feell out of BB for a year or so with a drug addiction, then when i pick it back up..............it was just a magazine full of muscle tech "4 page ad reports" disguised as articles
like it just changed over night, they were trying to trick people..........i think happened when she sold it though

it was sad because it was hardcore and intelligent at the same time then after a while it became too "Exercise Ball"-y
It's like, I think Charles Poliquin is a smart guy but his stuff is a bit too....i don't know,...it tries to be too much of a mix of shit that is "clinical" and German Volume training as well.
Plus, they became way too much about the "white collar" lifter or anyone else who would pay 99.99 for Betagen

Yeah, the Gold Finger issue was the point when even the fans went "WTF?".
Wes, USH was Duchaine. Phillips had his own book shown earlier in the thread, and use to mention "WAR" quite a bit.
