Kai Greene will not defend his title at the 2011 Arnold Classic

FLEXONLINE.COM

Kai Greene will not be defending his Arnold Classic title this year. Greene, the two-time and defending champ, announced today that he will sit out this year's competition.

Greene, who fell to a disappointing seventh at the 2010 Mr. Olympia after being tabbed as a precontest favorite, had been keeping a low profile since October. But all indications were that Greene would be on track to defend his title in Columbus, Ohio. In late December, though, Greene informed us he would be taking off the early part of the new season and would target acompetition later in the year in order to qualify for the 2011 Olympia.

"Defending my Arnold Classic title, winning the Australia Grand Prix and competing in the Olympia took a toll on my body last year," Greene said. "I've been competing at least three times a year since 2006, and I just felt like my body needed to rest in order for me to be at my best. I wish all of the competitors in the 2011 Arnold Classic the best, and I look forward to being back onstage in Columbus in 2012."

Ahh how Bodybuilding has changed... 3 shows and toll on his body.....

Remember in the 90's, BBer's would get laughed at if they only did 3 shows...

AC will be very interesting as 1&2 are out (Kai and Phil)...

Will Branch win the 2nd big one or will there be a surprise dark horse...

Stay tuned same bat time, same bat channel

First Phil out the Arnold and now Kai - hopefully this will lead to the highest quality and hardest-to-call Olympia top three ever (no schmoemo).

It is not the training and the diet that took a toll to his body for competing 3 time a year but the amount of the drugs he had to take in order to compete at that level ! A clear indication is the disappointing condition at the last Mr. Olympia. When a truckload of drugs and 100% dedication to training and diet do not give you result maybe it is time to give a brake to the body!

Somethings up, my Spidey  Sense is tingling....Both top Weider Athletes out?Is this politics, a backdoor agreement between MD and AMI/Weider? Will we see Dex, Branch, Vic Roelly, Cedric, Nunn, Centsandpennies, Hide, go at it...a agreement to let the youngbloods have a chance?

It also seems like nobody wants to touch Flex Wheeler's record of 4 Arnold Classics

If Cedric McMillan can hit the stage with conditioning he's never had before....

He could take it all on structure alone. Most genetically blessed shape in years.

Just a shame he doesn't diet hard enough

Evan Centopani must be on cloud 9. Santa came early for him.

Contenders are now Brach, Cent, Martinez and Dex.

From that lineup I would bet that branch will finally "overcome the odds" (aka be gifted) an ASC.

Agreed. It will be a repeat of him winning once again merely because of a shit line up.

This is looking very good for Evan and Branch.  I think the judges have moved on from Dexter and won't give him the win no matter how he looks.

Why all the hate on Centapani?

As for Dex, I tend to agree that his days of winning a 1st tier show are over. It's not a knock on his physique as he ALWAYS comes dialed in but his improvements always seem minimal...

Definitely like Branch's chances....

Yeah Martinez and Dexter are through. It's between Branch and Centopani if no other strong challengers appear.
