Cops were wrong. he was 20 feet away. Not coming towards them.

IF he lunged at them by all means shooty him. But why not shoot him in the leg?

too bad the cops didnt have the powers to freeze time and check what object the guy was threatening them with before following the text book and stating action

yeah they couldn't see with the Streamlight TL1 fashlights on their Glock 22s  ::) and boy how much damage could a gold club do to a kevlar helmet and level 3 body armor

shoot first and fuck asking questions

you hear a noise , wake up groggy , grab the closest item to you and go see what the problem is , shot three times dead , no knock search warrant

More than likely they were Surefire flashlights, maybe X series.  I own 4 pairs and they are outstanding.

you know nothing about how fast the gap is closed. shooting in the leg is not an option as it is too hard under stress to shoot a leg and if you do then the perp gets to sue for being maimed by the officers. center mass takes care of the problem.

i will say they were a little quick on the trigger....but this was justified in a legal sense

as far as shooting in the leg go's?...i know a guy serving 10 years for shooting a suspect in the leg that was running at him with a knife....he was put in prison for violating the mans civil rights by shooting him in the leg...the civil right violation was cruel and unusual punishement.....the judge and jury all agreed that if he would have made a kill shot he would have never even been charged...

so moral of the story?...if you plan on shooting someone...make sure they die..

Whilst that is true I am also glad I have never killed anyone and I am sure 6 cops (or how many were there) could handle one guy and a stick.

What was this guys house being searched for? Did he deserve to die? I think not.

you have never been in a life or death situation...so you should have zero opinion on this at all.....guy standing in a hallway...obviously armed with a weapon of sorts.....that is a threat...when its a life and death situation you DO NOT take chances...you take shots.......they announced themselves...he still reacted in a violent way...he made his intentions...as did they..

Dude, you can't argue common sense to a bunch of holier than thou liberals. It's the same thing in the Rodney King beating...if anyone knew that guy's past, nobody would feel sorry for him.

These are the same cocksuckers that love liberal government policies ...UNTIL they actually have to get a real job and see 35% of their paycheck be stolen from you to pay for them...then they sing a different tune.
Title: Re: Police , Search Warrant
Post by: pluck on December 26, 2010, 04:58:01 PM
There is a backstory to this shooting.

The cops had to obtain a search warrant because they knew this dude was doing some shady shit.

Let's put it this way. If this guy was a normal guy...let's say 9-5 type regular job, never had any sort of criminal record, just chilling on his couch drinking a beer and watching the game, what would be the chances of cops randomly busting in and shooting his ass ?? Next to nothing.

Now this guy was involved somehow in the drug game, with drug dealers. Drug dealers have fucking guns to protect themselves and their money because they are affiliated in a shady business with shady business always trying to fuck you. SO therefore the police before going into the house thought the same thing...that the guy was armed and ready to defend himself.

If I'm a cop, serving a warrant on some piece of shit...you better fucking believe it's gonna be the bad guy going down before me.

the officer asked the guy to turn over and put the hands behind his back, and he did exactly the opposite, he put his hands in his pockets and went back to his car.

What should the officer have done, ask PLEASE? Do like this other policie officer did (now dead)?

when i see that video of that veteran defending himself against hat fucking coward peace officer i alway get a warm safe feeling inside knowing there are citizens still out there willing to protect themselves agaist evil.

and the crying bitch voice wailing like a little girl after he realized he fucked with the wrong persn, really puts a cap on it.

if you want to pull a gun on someone for a moving violation and threaten their life, you better be ready to have the same done to you

First of all I ususally don't comment on this kind of stuff, but this guy was not having a search warrant "served " on him. It was a no knock warrant as in we break into your house at night and hope that you are confused and think that we are burglars so we can shoot you. How hard would it have been to wait for this guy to come out of his house the next morning and arrest him? Somebody needs to find the video of this same thing happening to another guy. He also was shot dead, the difference was the cops had the wrong house!!  ::)

A shitload of them bumrush your house with body armor the best weapons and they shoot a guy with a golf club  :-\  What if they busted in your house for the steroid stash in your closet? What if they got the wrong address? Gangs are now doing home invasions bye pretending they're the police. I keep a guns around me for shit like this. Sick of the police state this Country has become. I'm pretty conservative to but this shit is ridicolous. They shouldn't be allowed to do these no knock warrents unless someones life is in immediate danger. The pigs use drugs on their own time and they bust people for the same shit it ridicolous. I guess they only found a half ounce of weed on this guy. The guy who made that shot should be executed.

Notice how the cops don't have to follow any of the same laws we do. If you kill someone for breaking into your house the judge and jury will try to fuck you some how if your life wasnt in immediate danger. But if your a cop you can kill someone for holding a golf club.

The cop won't because it was a justifiable shooting. Tradgedy? Perhaps.. but justifiable all the same. Can't tell you how many instances I've seen where cops have faced a threat, in many cases a deadly threat and did not fire. In most cases it turned out ok only because the bad guy for whatever reason, decided not to kill the officer. While the press makes it look like cops are trigger happy, the opposite is the truth.

I've been through SWAT school training and know that they are conditioned to immediatly address and stop a threat that is encountered during a dynamic entry and he did exactly what he was trained to do. The average patrol cop may not have shot so quickly, but there are some dead cops who waited too long in those type of situations.

The War on some Drugs is a failure. It needs to end and the rights and freedoms that have been stripped as a result of it need to be reversed. LE has become a guilty until proven innocent confiscation business in a lot of places. SWAT type tactics are way over used. The idea that someone with a golf club is any real danger against a group of individuals in full body armor, helmets with drawn guns is not really a justification for shooting someone dead in their own home.

Our founding fathers would be completely opposed to the draconian tactics that are used so much today. They would also be greeting anyone barging into their homes with a hail of bullets.

The total sheilding of LE personal needs to stop. There was a case in Minn. were a swat team kicked in the wrong door got shot at bye the homeowner and then recieved medals for their actions  ???

Home invasions have been done time after time where the criminals have yelled police. ANYBODY can dress up like a cop and do this.

I have some cop friends, or used to be friends before they became cops -- they tend to now stick with their own kind, being other police officers.
Anyway, these guys were super insecure people and obviously saw the "power" behind being a cop enticing. I find most of them are far worse people than they ever were before. Worse friends, worse boyfriends or husbands, more fuked in the head than ever. Bodybuilders make great cops, those 2 go hand in hand. Super insecure douche's hiding behind muscle and a badge -- perfect camouflage for their insecurities on the inside and out.

"no knock" warrants have been under severe scrutiny as of the last 8-10 years, beginning when I was still in law school.
Many times, the police attempt to enter the wrong residence.
I recall two specific instances, one in Michigan and one in Georgia, where the police had the wrong address.
In Michigan, they went into the wrong guy's house in full black riot gear, and the resident shot and killed one of the officers.  He is now serving a life sentence because it is essentially a strict liabilty crime in Michigan to shoot an officer.
In Georgia, they performed a no knock warrant on the suspect's grandmother who was in her 80's.  She lived in a bad neighborhood and had an old pistol with her.  The police shot her, and killed her.

There are very rare instances when a "no knock" warrant is justified, as the infringement on our right to privacy is severe, especially when the police don't even bother to enter the proper residence.
Killing an innocent woman, only one innocent woman, is one too many to justify the infringement.
Further, the efficacy of the "no knock" is questionable at best, considering less intrusive means can be used for the exact same end.
Good post.

My brother moved into running state bootcamps for juveniles in Cali and then decided to go into hs teaching so he left Cali. When he was in S. Florida working, i went on a few "ride alongs" with him.....crazy shit to see your older brother draw down on some gangbanger shitbag.....my heart was pounding....
around a year ago my dad asked me to take my mom on a ride along....i am a investigator, and have been for some time so my dad thought it was good for her to see that i was in no danger at work....the problem?...its actually more dangerous..i always signed up for rolling back up car...so if shit hit the fan i was the tactical back up.....my mom never asked to go on a ride along again.....as soon as she got there and i put a vest on her she got pretty uncomfortable ;D

the guy had a bad attorney if all he got was 40,000...every move that officer made from the moment he got out of his patrol unit was incorrect.....that man could have easily milked another 1-2 mil out of the dept for giving their officers sub-par training.....that officer didnt even know how to initiate a traffic stop...

Can you name the exact things the cop did wrong in that situation? What would you have done differently? Thanks!

I just watched up to the tasing..

Quick thoughts..

1. when he approached initially he didnt take any time to look into the vehicle back area or back seat as he approached.
2. Had routine traffic stop written all over his attitude topped with a very non customer friendly attitude.
3. placed his whole body in front of the drivers window and it appeared he actually put his hands on the windowsill to relax
4. Didnt identify himself in a proper greeting "afternoon, I'm Trooper X and the reason I stopped you was..."
5. walked away the 1st time without watching the occupants
6. Walked away with driver behind him..

Basically, if he was being trained by a Field Training Officer he would have flunked the stop miserably.

Completely unjustified shooting. They clearly aimed DIRECTLY into his heart. 3 times. He's dead before he hits the floor.

All they managed to say was "get on the..." before he falls to the floor with 3 bullet holes in his heart.

This is part of why I don't like certain aspects of the police force/military. Powers are too easily abused. What they should have done is had stun guns or other non-deadly handguns to stun a potential offender, with "real" guns used ONLY as a backup. But this isn't a rational world we live in.

"Duh... bad guy there! Shoot! Shoot! Duh... bad guy dead. We did good."

This was an execution plain and simple.

Seeing videos like this make me really loathe cops and the politicians that embolden them with making what used to be a peace officer into a SWAT Team psycho thinking he is in GTA or COD.

Exactly.   This guy was probably in shock at the whole thing and had no clue what was going on and thought his house was being broken in to.

The cops put this man in that situation, not the other way around.

And for what?  Possession of some drugs?

Fucking cops like this are bitches and pussies.   Notice they NEVER do this to MS13, VATOS LOCO, etc?

Wonder why?   ::)  ::)  ::)

I am against the war on drugs.   Its pure bullshit on so many levels its not funny.

Whether we discuss civil forfeiture bullshit, corruption of many cops taking street money, use of CI's to justify unlawful searches and used as justifications for warrants, the cost to the taxpayer, the employment of hundreds of thousands of public employees to keep this stupid thing going, the ensuing violence, etc, the so called War on Drugs is a fucking joke on the taxpayer more than anything else.

I have a few friends who are NARCS and they are a complete joke.  They milk the taxpayer dry for salary, ot, pensions, health benes, etc etc, for bullshit buy and busts of small shit and use CI's to play off each other.

Nothing in the nabe ever changes, the same bums on the street dealing, same criminality, same players involved from the DA, judges, Public Defenders, Corrections Officers, Court Officers, etc.

The only one getting fucked in the ass in all of this bullshit war on drugs is the idiot taxpayer paying for all of this.  We pay for the jails, the judges, the DA, the cops, the corrections officers, the court officers, the parole officers, etc.

For what?  30 years later, the fake war on drugs is nothing but a failure and waste of money.

He will in the form of karma :)  maybe his kid will get his head blown off in a home invasion

or his wife will get teh aids and give it to him

I definitely feel for the dude in the house.

I somewhat feel for the driver in the traffic stop, as he had the wife with him. But you have to be a complete idiot to ever get out of your car and approach a cop. That's just common sense. You're only asking for trouble. Whenever I've ever been pulled over, I just sit there and answer their questions. You're not going to get anywhere by arguing. If you have a beef with a charge, wait till you get to court.

What years?

i'd have to ask for sure, but it was somewhere around 2003-2008......he worked WAY up north, but most of the kids were from the hoods in Southern Cali.  He really felt bad for a lot of the kids.....some would beg to stay at the camps instead of going back home because they knew they would most likely fall back into the same stuff that got them in trouble to begin with.  Quite a few were able to workout something to go into the military.  The camps were run a bit like bootcamp.

Im not a Yank and proud of it. Americans are doing exactly what their government wants. Go to work everyday come home and watch MTV or the news. Anything that keeps them sleeping and unaware of whats really going on around them.

And its really scary how chauvinistic they are and what they believe in.

I wish it was the sticks.  I live in Raleigh, not a huge city, but decent size.  Really have very little problems with the cops.  i think the huge metro areas are where the most problems are.
