You said bassists=shitty guitar players, I proved you wrong...one has nothing to do with the other. She is a Jazz musician, take it for what she is...She is the hottest thing in Jazz now, a female bass player who has played for the US president, who at the age of 20 was on the staff at Berkeley...she went to college at 16...she is a phenom and a great bass player.

FLEA

Never mind that Nig slap/pop stuff. I'm talking right hand, all fingers. Flea is great, just hate that style.
Joey Demaio from ManOwaR plays great, but uses a pick. He's basically a guitar player.
Yes, bass & guitar, two different worlds. Most guitarists wouldnt know how to hold down a bottom end, they're too busy being attention whores. Guitarists = shitty bassists.

yes, there is more to instrument playing than competing in the fretboard olympics.  highest notes per minute does not make you a better musician.

here's some of the worst of both worlds:

I saw Tony Levin play a club date in TO years ago. I only went because he played with Peter Gabriel and King Crimson. Not bad.

This right here. picking bassists = failed guitar players.

dj181 said it best imo with John Entwistle.

I'm not saying he's the best, but i like Robert Trujillo's style.

Not necessarily the best bassist in a traditional sense but for what he does, nobody comes close to Michael Manring.

How come no one mentioned Billy Sheehan ???

I was going to but then I realized that Billy is pretty one dimensional and even though his right hand is super fast, I can think of a couple of others that can do more stuff.

Right now -I am stuck in the 80's music wise

Maiden/Metallica/Megadeth/anthrax/Slayer/Dio/ozzy/ etc.

Been watching the Sonisphere Big 4 DVD non-stop BLASTING.

Among the Living
Speak English or Die
Holy Diver

Lot of self-indulgent crap posted here.

This is the best bass solo within the context of a great song:
