I wish there was a gym that were for serious trainers ONLY
where serious trainers can train without having a gym full of teenagers benching for 4 hrs holding up the bench
or doing 20 sets each on the cable crossover.
they can do that in a gym like planet fitness or fitness gym
leave the hardcore gyms to serious trainers

Not a bad wish. Not at all.

My wish is that when I walk into the gym tonight that there is a bunch of new hotties that joined as a new years resolution.
....and that they stay and just don't work out for two weeks.

I think that's the UCONN men's lacrosse team on winter break. Sorry to disappoint you, but they'll be back on campus in a week or two.

the squat rack is always free apart from the ocassional idiot who does barbell curls in there
the deadlift station is free
also the chinning bar is free
the heavy dumbells are never used for pressing etc
... most crowded stations:
bench
carbles
pulldowns
hammer press chest nachines

I train in an independent gym. When I first joined there were maybe 10 guys under 23/24 training there. Now 85% of its clients are people under 24. Sucks.

i dont my gym is probably the only 24 hr gym in the uk
years ago it was fairly serious but since all the pumped up celebs started to come out
ll cool j 50 cent etc the gym is rammmmmmed with morons
when i was 16 i had no interest in lifting weights i was busy being an average teen girls haanging out etc
now the gym is rammed with 16yr old kids even in the dead of the night in groups of 8's
fair enough if your serious about training ...
but these guys just come in on their cells pants all the way down there ass mohican mess around on the bench talk garbage 4 hrs woth of "benching" and crossovers
this nisnt fair to serious trainers who want to seriously work out effieciently
i mean i asked one guy who looked about 150 doing crossovers by the way ::)
how many sets do you have left as i was finnishing up and wanted to do some pressdowns
reply 16 sets :-\

Set up your own garage gym. Aside from the equipment I have in storage for our gym, my garage has........
Squat rack with pull up and dip bars and band pegs
Olympic BP
Pulldown to 250lbs
Seated Row to 250lbs
GH Raise
DB's to 120lbs
flat bench
0-90 bench
150lb keg
battling ropes (2")
10ft rope (2")
chains
bands
plyo boxes
2 sleds
2000lbs of plates w/trees
2 olympic bars
1 Texas bar
1 box squat bench
1 Stereo system
Thats just what I have in my little 400sq ft garage. My point.......train at home or open your own.
-
I do not think he wished to open or make his own gym. He just wishes the annoying people would stop being annoying.
-
Coulda been the spandex shorts you were wearing :-X
Ha! Should have seen that one coming. ;D
-
I'd appreciate it if gyms has a separate area for members who have been X amount of times over the past 6 months or whatever. Nothing too crazy, but as long as you're a constant user of your gym pass you shouldn't have to wait for the 125 tank tops to finish their 20lbs DB presses to use the bench.

Perhaps they would stay longer if you and Gene weren't doing buddy-assisted donkey calf-raises in cut-off bluejeans behind them on the treadmills, Calvin..... :-\

I would like that, but my yearly gym fees cost less than a set of 90 and 100lb dumbells.

Ive seen More " hardcore/serious/shit-brickhouse, pro-size looking dudes" training at HEALTHCLUBS, like LIFETIME Fitness, Ballys, Cardinal Fitness, LA Fitness, etc.........THAN ive seem at " HARDCORE GYMS" here in Illinois. Kinda strange.

have no problem with teens if they are there to learn and workout properly
but 90% are just there to fuck around and eat up gym space

Wow man. I bet you eat your eggs with the shell still intact, that way you dont expend any unnecessary energy cracking them before your workout.

It might be a pain, but if they pay the money and follow the rules, they have just as much right to be there as you.

qft. i do olympic lifting so i only have/need an 8' by 8' platform, two bars, about 700 lbs of plates, squat racks, and wooden blocks. the initial investment of around 5k will pay for itself in two years.

Fairness and etiquette go both ways. ;)
-
I know which is why I make sure I use the gym in a fair and effective way.
Eg don't curl in the squat rack
Use the single pressdowns station for tricep and not the crossover station in case someone wants to do crossovers
Don't spent half hr on one apparatus or station
Because if we all did that no one would get to work out properly
And I allow people to work in

Problem is gym ediquette.
These young teens have NONE!
I had 315 on the incline bar and some asshole walked by in the middle of the set ad nearly hit the bar as he was on his cell phone.
Why? To go talk to his boy doing tri push downs.
These teens amaze me, they are WEAK as shit and focus on tris, bis, cablesetc.
At 35, clean, I embarass these fools to death.

all true. No etiquette because the vast majority of them have never trained at a gym where the vets would teach you the ropes.....either by showing you or brow beating you into doing what is expected......old school gym, that guy wouldn't be on a phone and if he wandered too close to you, he would get his ass chewed out. Same with re-racking weights, not using the squat rack as a curl station, spending more time doing crunches than squatting, etc, etc.......
-
That Gene would show up when he said he would...

So he could give you the cheescake over by the locker room?
-
These kids are all in under armour gear, on the cell phones, etc
Yet I have not seen one in my gym who can bench over 225. They do all the easy lifts, bullshit forever around the cables, and are rude too.
I just throw on my headphones and try to ignoe them, but it gets annoying.
I remember when I first started working out in the early - mid nineties, and it was just like you said at Gold's. I befriended some monsters who showed me around, helped me out with my first few shows, etc.
These kids now are all soft and weak.

How so? That would indicate a gym membership costs about $208/mth.

That's because their parents did not raise them with good manners, yeah it's fucking sad.
Gym owners and trainers should act more against this rude behaviour, but they don't seem to care. :-\
