Title: Jim Harbaugh to the 49ers
Post by: Leatherneck on January 07, 2011, 02:00:32 PM
It looks like Jim Harbaugh is making the jump to the NFL. I think he's going to succeed because unlike most college coaches he played in the league for 14 years and was an NFL qb coach for a couple years. I instructed his nephew in the Marine Corps so I am a little biased.

I seem to remember the 49ers taking another coach from Stanford years ago...the late, great Bill Walsh.

The University of Michigan won't recover.

He sounds a little too excited at his press conference.

Good choice.  Now my Niners need a QB.

Maybe Kevin Kolb will get a trade there. I think he could continue the west coast offense.

Kolb will stay with Philly. Matt Flynn may stay with GB. Personally I'd like to see Kyle Orton. Decent QB who can read defenses.

Oh and use our 1rd draft pick on either a shutdown corner or a pass rushing DE

McNabb should be available.  He would be a good short-term fix, assuming we get a good one in the draft.

I don't like McNabb much. I think he was good because of the system in Philly and because he was familiar with Reid's WCO. He obviously didn't pan out the same in Shanahan's WCO.
But McNabb will be available I'm sure and even he's better than the current crop of QB's we have now.

He had a down year, but he's a great QB.  A winner.  Something we haven't seen in SF in years.

Bullshit, the 2nd half of last season he was very good.....I actually started him over Romo in fantasy ball.....this season he looked like Ron Paulus.....

I thought with Davis, Crabtree and Josh Morgan combined with Gore, they would have a pretty potent offense, but they just staggered out of the gate and never recovered......very strange season for SF.

He had a few good moments this year, but overall he was just average.  No excuse.  He had a decent line, Gore, Crabtree, and Davis.

And to think the Niners took him first overall, while Aaron Rodgers went later in the first to GB.

And Rodgers pleading the 9ers to take him and that he wouldn't hold out in a contract dispute, and Bill Walsh also stating that he thought that Rodgers would end up being better than Smith................... I still cringe.

One of many post-Walsh/Debartolo mistakes.
