And you based this on a 50's movie...depending on what movie, plus nobody dresses like Carey Grant anymore, and of course kids get away with more than Dennis the Menace back then, and 'gay' meant happy, "funny" and "peculiar" meant "homosexual" or "perverse"

In terms of talking, there were a lot of films that had cornball slang (who says, "Aww geez!")

And why the fuck do some, albeit hideous, women wear their pajamas in public?  A high school science lab petri dish has more culture than the morons walking around today.  And Europes no better.  Nor England.  And don't get me started on fifth world islamic shitholes. ;D

I assume you're refering to the actual language used, and in that case it has changed. As for as tonailty goes, as I understand it, actors, broadcasters and the like, used to have to use a certain tone to be picked up by the mic effectivley. That's why they "sounded different".  Listen to an old school basbeball broadcast, it's halarious seeee.

A more rigorous grammar and high school education. Those things are being watered down and made easier almost annually to "make things fair". my take on it...

 ???

This reminds me of something I read once about the American education system. And that was that the influx of immigrants from South America that flood our education system are so poorly educated that the US has to "dumb down" our education so that the population of immigrants can "keep up" and graduate at the same  pace so they don't feel "left behind".

It's globalization. We aren't isolated like we used to be to create our own dialect of English.

Nowadays if you talk like John Wayne everyone will stereotype you as uneducated and trashy.

You have to be politicall correct these days. You gotta take the bass out of your voice and talk very nicely. Yout must present yourself as educated and sophisticated. That's where the word is at right now.
