Title: Older World's Strongest Man .
Post by: BB on January 10, 2011, 02:18:52 PM
I remember a few months back some one was asking for clean copies of the old versions, well this guy is posting most of them. Lot more eye appeal to these old versions vs. the new ones.

I remember watching these way back when they ran them on ESPN and I really enjoyed them. Franco Columbo standing his ground against top WSM competitors was incredible, especially for a guy his size. Much respect to him for that. I'd love to see any of the modern day IFBB pro's man up and give Strongman competitions a shot like that. Bunch of nonathletic chemical factory pansies I tell ya!

Lou Ferrigno was in the 1977 one as well - not sure where he placed though.

Cool stuff! Used to watch this on ABC Wide World Of Sports.  Remember Franco competing as well as Lou. Kaz and Bruce Wilhelm as well as Jon Pall Sigmarsson...

Do you think hes got the balance and coordination to do these kind of lifts? It would be a sight to see thats for sure. I think an athlete from every strength aspect sport should enter WSM just like in those days. They should also have the same events and same format too.
It would be real interesting to see Phil Heath go against Franco Columbo in the barrel lift.
