There are plenty of countries on par and plenty of countries way ahead of the US when it comes to freedom.

Interestingly enough there is a number of European countries who also want to ban the Kinder chocolate eggs but have so far failed because Italy (where these eggs are from) is fighting against any ban within the Europan Union with a vengeance, but must have had less influence in the US, so there the ban went ahead under the pretext of "Health and Safety" while in reality it was lobbying by other chocolate manufacturers who have a hard time competing against the very popular Kinder eggs. So this is not an American story but a general "where is the world going to" story.

Norway's slightly higher GDP (about $5,000) is not enough to make up for the fact that Norwegian cities dominate the most expensive cities in the world lists and put most American cities to shame in terms of money you'll be dumping on rent and food.
