same as tim duncan in this era...after 2 years in the league he suffered a knee injury that took all his jumping ability and athleticism...but due to his mad skills he still dominated for years

In these videos I see bird salmming dunks with 2 hands non stop.

he didnt need to make each shot a jam.

his midgame and movment withotu ball was insane, can get shot anywhere with crowd or not.

someone said a true forward can play oin perimiter and among the trees, in and out, bird certainly could

Not what is was but Wade, James, Bryant and a few others have given the NBA new life IMO.
Too many bad teams and ticky tack fouls now but watching those players sometimes reminds me of the good old days.

True story, back in the early 70s my uncle went to see the Lakers play in Cleveland, and as he waited outside the locker room to get West's autograph, he told me that when the Laker players came out the black dudes surrounded West wanting his autograph, and they basically ignored Chamberlain and Baylor, and they were shouting "Hey! Look fellas! It's J. West" 8) Yeah, da brothers basically ignored Chamberlain and Baylor, and flocked to West ;D Also, J. West pwnd Bird on D 8)

The NBA traveling rule was changed this year to officially allow two steps (although they've been calling it that way for as long as I've been watching basketball).  Not sure what it is in NCAA although I give no fucks about college basketball (boring).

I don't get why people hold the '80s up as this wonderful golden decade of basketball.  The talent level now league-wide is leaps and bounds above what it was in the '80s, which had the Lakers or Celtics in the Finals literally every single year.

vvv Yeah I think you're right.

Game 3 of the 1987 first round.

Bird had 32/14/6 and hit for 15 fourth quarter points. Jordan though struggled in this elimination game and would get 30 points on only 9/30 shooting. Jordan shot 0/8 in the fourth but did convert 5 free throws.

Bulls had a 7 point lead at home with 11 minutes left in the fourth. Celtics however went on a Bird-led run in the fourth and completed the sweep.
