every night between the hours of 1am and 7am he cries like the dickens. food/toilet/comfy doesn't seem to matter. is this normal?
ive been totally ignorant about kids my whole life so any advise is appreciated.

buy some over teh counter stuff for gas for infants----works like a charm bro, I didnt believe it would work but it saved my life

colic is awful .... there's home remedies ... but see if you can get this stuff where you live .. if not then maybe a chemist/pharmacy carries the ingredients in another brand .. just ask them :)

Colich or the baby has its days and nights mixed up. First three months or so of parenthood is rough man, you will not know how happy you can be though when he/she starts sleeping the entire night :)

remember when you wife was prego, the baby usually starts bucking around in her tummy when she
is chilling on the couch or not moving much, not always but usually
they are comforted by closeness and movement...they are very uncomfortable alone...do you think
1000 years ago people dump their kid in a different area than they were sleeping? fuck no...babies
are very insecure, they need security which is mommy and daddy
always remember that...babies don't cry to piss you off even though it seems that way in the middle
of the night when you are tired...they are either scared, hungry, gassy....also you never know when a
kids is having growing pains, stomach pains, headaches, etc...they are not specific, they only know how
to cry
you will get though it...some babies sleep alone fine, others need more security, food, etc
i have two, the first was up every night for 6 months...the second only bothers us if she is sick or hungry
which i think is because we were much less stressed the second time around
congrats, good luck, and just hang in there....don't get mad, just walk away if it gets to you cause
being a guy, it will...just remember, they change so damn fast at that age that you tend to forget

I've heard white noise .. like a vacuum .. the small sensation of the feel of it along with the slight hum .. ( I've heard of white noise CD's aswell )
plus they have to outgrow it ... don't lose patience so quickly .. it's just beginning
search for something that works and enjoy the quiet time when you can .. adjusting yourself is easier than the baby trying to adjust right now

Congrats on the baby.
You will sleep again, I never thought I would. Get some mylicon if it isnt colic. This was a life saver for me. Mine didn't sleep for 7 hours straight until she was 5 months old but it varies from baby to baby

once again, the getbig gods have smiled upon me and graced me with forbidden knowledge regarding my quandary.
it's not colic. not quite that severe and i thing colic is more common with slightly older infants. i don't even think 'colic' is a real thing.
chaos- i'm with you but the woman is in command when it comes to baby matters. as the spawn gets older i will slowly usurp control so as to not turn him into a fairy.
from your posts i believe it is gas, and exactly what we were thinking.
so far sleep isn't too bad since i usually stay up til 3am anyway and the mom takes over around them while i sleep 6-8 hours.
thanks for your responses. i haven't laughed so hard in a while.
