Where would you go if you had say 6 weeks in Europe with your wife or girlfriend?
I've done Europe before, but solo. Next time, it'll be with my wife. She's latina, and she loves art so gotta hit the best museums.
So I'm thinking 2 weeks in Spain, and 2 weeks in Italy, plus a couple of weeks visiting Paris, Amsterdam, Prague and maybe a place like Bruges (she liked the movie haha.) Would go sometime between May and September.
Any suggestions from you jet setters or Europeans?
(This is bodybuilding related because I met my wife in a gym.)

To be honest your plan sounds pretty good to me.....

Well, you got the art world covered nicely: Prado, Uffizi/Vatican, Louvre, Van Gogh. Have a great time.

Avoid London,
You'll be disappointed. It's essentially a much smaller, dirtier and more expensive version of New York

My recommendations are;
Spain - Seville and Granada in the south. Bilbao and Barcelona in the north. (2 weeks)
Italy - Venice, Florence and Rome. (2 weeks)
Paris - (1 week)
Bruges/Amsterdam - (1 week)
Skip Prague, it's a lovely town but too far out of the way and doesn't really fit the art brief (neither does Bruges but it is a stunner of a town).

If you're travelling from the States and staying in the Capital cities (Paris, Rome etc....)
You might be surprised how expensive things are.

Yeah I hear ya, Europe is damn expensive. Especially since we're used to travelling in South America haha. We'll be departing from Canada. I'll definitely have to keep within a budget but I'm not gonna stress about the inflated prices (and it'll be peak season too.) Basically, it's our last chance for an extended "romantic" holiday for the two of us because i'll probably end up knocking her up on the trip. :D

I've also heard that they have elevators in the back of the club that go right up to the hotel above this fine establishment

Paris is great! Parisians are an altogether other story. No wonder they keep losing their city.

Good call. There are some nice places in the Ardennes, and love Carcassonne. Oh, and all the vineyards with all their tastings. Close to heaven on a sunny day.

Sit around a table with a good group of friends at village inn with a few gallons of rose on the table, and the local meats and cheeses and I guarantee you will change your mind.

Ha! Made me laugh. Actually, among the English, I was the least snobby, if you can believe it. The Australians were easy going and the Swiss were regimented and stiff-necked. Heck, I was three glasses into a bottle before they declared it 'corked' and asked that it be taken back and replaced. Did. not. have. a. clue. ;D

I found London to be cleaner than NYC. They are both expensive. You can eat fairly cheaply at pubs. Stay away from parts of east london though, more trashy and certain areas with large muslim population makes it seem more like the middle east than london. North and west London was beautiful, great architecture, lots of things to do, the parks were great and busses & tubes were easy to navigate.

One of the reasons i liked Germany. Much bigger portions than most of europe and heavy foods with a lot of beef, chicken, pork and potatoes.....right up my alley.

Whatever you do, don't travel through Europe in July or August, as half of Europe is on the road in these two months and everything tends to be overcrowded and over priced.
Best to fly into Milan, rent a car and hit the French Riviera (Monaco, Nice, Cannes, St Tropez) for a week or so, then go into the smaller cities of Toscany and Umbria in Italy - places like Pisa, Torre del Lago, Peruggia, Orvieto, and many others. Romantic, good food, lots of culture and not as overpriced as the bigger places. Include Florence for a cultural climax.
Then get rid of the car,
Jump on a train to Como, spend a day or two, take a boat across the lake past Bellagio to Lecco or any other place with a train station on the other side. From there you can take trains via Posciavo to St Moritz in Switzerland. Spend a day or two with the rich and famous there and then take the famous Glacier Express Train through the Alps to Zermatt. From there go to Montreux for a couple of days
From Montreux you can take a boat to the French Spa Town of Evian (where the water is from) and win all the Euros spent so far back in the Gand Casino (or not).
Then off to Paris with a TGV high speed train from Lausanne or Geneva.
From Paris you can easily get to Brussels and Bruges. If you like you can also build in London after that.
If you want to include Prague, fly there from London for two or three days.

You could make a tour of Europe and have your picture taken with a Getbigger in every country - Swede in Sweden, Mars in Holland, Ursus and Stark in Ireland, Fatpanda in Scotland, Kyomu in Spain, and Sevastase in Romania.
Actually I wouldn't bother with that last one.

I donno hard choice, I wouldn't go unless it was for atleast 2 months, just backpack my ass around europe, Fuck hotels, rather see how far I could walk in two months.
Start from Breton or Friesland and work my way to prague.

Ibiza till I OD then hospital where ever.

I'd go by Sev's recommendation - stay in Romania the entire time

I don't know why people usually want to see London. London seems like it's about the closest thing to a US city you can get without being in the US. A big version of Seattle with funny accents.
I'd go to Amsterdam, then slowly make my way southeast towards Turkey.

starting 2 front war, bombing london, running ruffshod over poland, and putting smakdown oni france, establishing myself in the palace at versailles of course(http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-images/Arts/Arts_/Pictures/2007/08/07/hitler460.jpg)

I'd hit Vienna. then some place in russia. just to see something besides "amsterdam (makes holland look bad) and london"

Agree. When I have vacation time Europe is at the bottom of my list of places i'd like to go.

stay away from the trendy areas in Western Europe...they're boring, full of tourists, and basically look exactly like the streets in any other developed countries
check out Central and Eastern Europe to see something different, and see much much better looking women
-
This is hard to say without sounding like a dick but I would go where my interests take me. Seeing a bunch of 'historical stuff' will be pretty boring if you don't know or care why it's significant. If you're more of a sensualist, travel accordingly.
Book online for popular museums and restaurants.

I've travelled to Europe a few times when I was a single guy. I covered the most popular spots in Western Europe during my backpacking days; and on other trips, I spent quite a bit of time in Iceland, the Scandinavian countries, Germany, the three Baltic countries, Poland and Ukraine. Had girlfriends in Germany, Poland, Ukraine and Lithuania; and a couple of apartments there as well, so I know where the good looking women are to be found. ;)
So this upcoming trip is for my wife's eyes.

That's good advice. We're not going to see certain sights just because we're supposed to see 'em.
For what it's worth, my undergraduate degree was in European history (haha) and my wife's was in art history (and she considers herself to be an "artist" as well) :) so i've gotta take her to the great museums of Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Florence etc. Plus my wife's a big Catholic and so I definitely have to take her to the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel . . .
But I agree, it's best to have some flexibility in where we go and what we do. I might be able to make the trip 2 months long (i'm gonna be in between jobs) which will allow for more off the beaten track stuff.

Try to figure out a way to get back to America.
