the pop-locking dancing negros of today could learn a thing or two from this man.
imo he has an ideal build, big in all the right places but small waist, no gut and looks like he could still live a normal life and play sports and be mobile, no midget, and presents himself in a way that does not scream 'gay'

Ironically he went out on a high note ended his career in his best shape ever. He said he just learned how to peak I don't think we saw what the true potential of that physique could have shown.

x2, wasn't he in his early 30s when he retired. He definitely had some good years left.

The greatest bodybuilder of all time in his best shape ever!
Back in the day bodybuilding had decency and people used to respect and admire champions like Lee Haney.
I miss the pre-palumbismo era!

The buildup at 4:11 to the front double bi at 4:25 is one of my favorite on stage moments ever in bodybuilding. Remember it like it was yesterday.....

Great combination of mass and aesthetics. Big without being a bloated mess. And as mentioned before, you need to see him in person to truly appreciate his physique...God, what the hell happened to the "sport"... :(

I gotta disagree with ya on this....didn't see the true potential? The man was Mr O 8 times! If he decided to go against what Yates was ushering in, he would have just ruined what I consider to be one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) bodybuilding physiques of all time. He destroyed the competition and went out on top...what more could you ask? I don't think that physique could be improved upon without destroying what made it great in the first place. The ninties still had great physiques as well, but one can argue that it lead down the path towards what you saw in the 00s...Ronnie-chasers who have no real shape other than the cookie-cutter bodybuilders you see today. I think Lee Labrada said it best...something along the lines of, "They shouldn't even call it bodybuilding anymore; they should call it 'mass building'...".
Haney was the last great Mr O IMO.
-
As good as Haney was, if he did not in fact retire in 1991, I think he wouldve had a very difficult time beating Levrone (turned pro in 1991) and Wheeler (turned pro in 1992). And by 93' Yates was untouchable.

Pretty much agree. More refinement and density was possible, but adding much more mass would ruin those lines. And trust me, if you saw him in person in his prime, you'd agree he had PLENTY of mass...

Outed.

Didn't Haney train relatively light?
-
whoooaaaaa oooooooooooooo gottttttttttaaa geeet killllled whoooooaaaaaa ooooooooooo
-
Great lats and pecs on Mr. Lee, in my humble opinion "high lats" like his look best.
-
i consider yates in 93 the best over all physique of any mr. olympia but lee haney imo is the best mr. olympia in general because he deserved all his 8 victories unlike yates and coleman..
-

compared to yates and ronnie, he trained lighter
hard trainer though. Haney and gaspari were actual training partners at a time
-
One of the best posing routines for sure and one of the last great Mr Olympias.
-
Lee had better Lats than Dorian ...but dorian's lower back and traps were much more bigger

Like Cable guy touched on , not so much in terms of size but overall refinement and overall conditioning , Haney admitted this was the first showing where he actually peaked the day of the contest he was just actually getting to know his physique in terms of how it responds to contest prep , he was young and had some areas he could have improved on I think he could have been even better but I totally understand why he retired

I don't understand, wasn't rap music around at that time?
Haney is/was the best ever.
-

it's strange that mr. "judges are my gods and flex magazine is my bible .." doesnt agree with them here!!.. seems you base your arguments on their decisions only when they please you :-\ :-X :-\

Oh the irony he won the title in the end ::) something you can't seem to accept yourself when it comes to guys you don't like
I never said he didn't deserve to win did I? I eluding to the fact it wasn't always black & white as you claimed when you typed he deserved all his titles , he had his close calls
-
awesome, great strong posing and music
-
lee haney is as much to blame for bringing in the massmonsters as dorian and ronnie, haney outweighed his closest competition by 40lbs or more, gaspari kept putting on more mass, trying too catch lee.
-
Haney = respect. He repped the sport like no other and made bodybuilding cool. Those guys in the 80s and 90s made me want to workout. Now, it's nothing like that and to be a bodybuilder is practically embarrassing.

lol is this a joke??
-
Haney's upper body was really started to show the effects of mutation. Not so much his lower body. Yates really indulged into full mutation.
