It's like saying "This is your man, Trey Songz" . Saying what he is saying is like a shortened version of "This is my Homeboy", to "This is my boy"
when slave masters said it, they were talking down to a grown ass man and calling him "Boy", while ordering him around. Or using his first name. Back in those days and in the South, it was considered improper to call someone their first name, especially if you didn't know them. Which is why many ex-slaves called each other Mrs and Mr, even when married.
