Interesting to see. Overeem a better striker on his feet than Jones.  But Jones is much stronger than Overeem

Also, before anyone can say but Overeem is now 265 lbs does not mean anything other than he is a good responder to testosterona.  Fighting strength is functional - We all know how Frank Mir's "it's called weights.  The plates have numbers on them and the higher you go, the stronger you get" turned out.

Looks like Darren Avey is using his alternate account.

Overeem is possibly the best heavyweight in MMA.  Cain Velasquez even admits this (http://www.mma-core.com/videos/_Cain_Velasquez_Overeem_is_TOP10_HW_Maybe_the_Best?vid=10015791&tid=105 (http://www.mma-core.com/videos/_Cain_Velasquez_Overeem_is_TOP10_HW_Maybe_the_Best?vid=10015791&tid=105)).

Do not mistake the young overeem with the beast he is now. He demolished the k1 and he actually prefers mma where he can grab and knee ... I think he'll plow through that field. I compare him in his field with tyson in his prime

In k-1 they were'nt allowed to clinch with both arms and knee.. what kinda fucked up rule is that?  Guess what Overreem does best? lol. and he still won. sure he got some worn out oponents, but overeem fought Very smart in that tournament, without being allowed to do what he does best.

And he threw a 270 + brett rogers around like a Baby.

Rua is a bit more psycho than Reem that's why he won, mentally stronger, more durable.

Overeem will be hard to beat at heavy, he is a lot stronger and is more patient with his striking but you wonder how he would deal with a good pressure fighter. He looks to have got slower as well if his most recent fights are anything to go by. Not a lot of guys in mma to expose his weaknesses but k1 should be very interesting this year.

hopefully they have Normal ass rules this time around..

No double arm clinch.. its like they removed it just because of alister.

Have they changed the rules ocmpletly or only for that fight? used to watch k1 all the time a few years back and never recalled that stupid ass rule.

one thing in MMA pisses me off... the fucking speculation  :D

" SO, what do you think will happend?!"

       - WELL it can be possible, I'm just speculating, the match could end up in a K.O

"SHIT, you think so huh?!"

      - Yeah, prolly k.o, but the guy has got his difence up by a quarter, so it could be an even bout, the guy has a history of pulling out from some big beatings

"Oh my god  :o"

      - But, you won't believe this...

"WHAT, jesus man, tell me?!??!"

      - Well.... the fight could end up on the ground...

"you don't THINK that..."

     - yeah could go to a choke man.....

".... I'm speechless..."

     - yeah, a choke or....

"...... space travel  :o?!?!?!?!?!?"

      - close..... a fucking.. ARM bar, bro!

"........ *head explode*"

lol that's how they all go... yeah it could en up in ANY POSITION!, but probably ko... but could be ground and pound or a choke or an arm lock or it  could go pass 5 rounds.... but probably one of them.... SHUT UP!!!!!!!!1111111111

I think it's permanent.

They should just change k-1 to full Muay Thai rules. What is the point of limiting the striking? Very stupid.

When he (Overeem) ko'd Ewerton Texeira, some were saying that it maybe was an illegal clinch knee.  I think on that fight night was when that new rule when into effect - though you could clinch at that time with both hands.  I think after he killed Texeira, they changed the rule AGAIN so that you can only clinch with one hand and only throw one kick before having to let go.  I think the rule was made specifically because of him.

When Overeem started in K-1, his striking was very stiff and robotic.  In this short time though, he's loosen up a lot more and now looks very fluid.  My only concern is how good is his wrestling and how much he's been working on his TD defence.  Verdoom's not a wrestler though.  I actually feel bad for him that he's gonna get destroyed so badly.

I wouldn't call him fluid, he has pretty much zero movement, he just shells a lot of the time. He is a far better ring general now though and adheres to a plan, but i think that he has slowed down a bit too.

I think his grappling in general is great, very strong, good technically and he transitions in to thai clinch at every opportunity which is a pain in the ass to look out for.

To me what's most amazing about him is that no other fighter that i can think off has made this kind of turn-around in their career - especially at this stage of his career.  To go from being written off to conquering K-1 and knocking everyone in mma is amazing.  He's become a completely different fighter.  Maybe that's what a fighter needs coming off loses - go to Japan and build a win streak by fighting Jap cans then face real competition after you gain your confidence back?
