Being single with no kids might be cool as long as you got the choice to do otherwise. One day you're pushing 45-50, are single with no kids and have no choice anymore but staying single with no kids, facing 20+ boring, lonely years left.
Having kids is a tough decision for sure, once you have em there's no turning back, they're not dying after few years like pets, nor can you give em back or throw em away like material assets.

The fucked up thing is you only know how awesome kids are until you have your own, If you would have asked me a year ago I would
have said... I will try to not have kids as long as I can.
Now since I have my son and see how unfucking believable cute and awesome he is... its hard to put in words, mother nature fucking with your mind.
I give you an example:
This morning I sit on the my spot in the living room, laptop on my knees coffee on the right side - I always create a report which I need for a daily meeting later that day.
My son who is 7 month old and just started to crawl was some place in front of me, I was concentrating to get the report right, but I could hear and feel his tiny little hands
grab my trousers to pull himself up.
I started paying attention to him when I saw his tiny hand reach really slowly to the coffee cup ;D
When I put the laptop aside to put him back were his play toys are he gave me this look of complete love his eyes were shiny and he had his mouth open laughing.
In short he was just happy to see me and that I paid attention to him.
Children have a very basic but completely pure sense of happiness, something we loose over the years which are filled with work and disappointment.

If you stopped after the first paragraph it would have been perfect. I have kids and feel the same way. The truth is though, nobody else gives a shit about your kids and all the cute/wonderful stuff they do. And, if anyone other than a relative is having a conversation with you about that kind of stuff, they're either politely tolerating you or just buying time until THEY can tell YOU about their fucking kids. The only thing worse is when people with no kids do the same thing with their pets.
In other words, enjoy the hell out of it. It's awesome. Just don't bore anyone else with it. Trust me on this one.

I won’t even give him a pass on the first paragraph. Lots of people understand how awesome kids are long before they have them. Stark was just late to the party. Many people go to extreme measures to have children via adoption or fertility treatments to have children precisely because they know how awesome kids are. You don't spend 5-7 years on a wait list to adopt or $10-50K for fertility treatments or surrogacy because you only think you might want a kid. ::)

I don't consider kids to be the blessing of this world and I refuse to see the whole thing as another miiiiraaacle ::)
I'm also not one of these crazy fucked up shit eating daaaaadies that cannot wait until they can wear their baby sling - these are the same guys that jog with their dog
sepperater their trash listen to Steely Dan and drive a SAAB.
In fact the first fucking thing I said to my wife is that I will not wear one of these gay baby slings.
I was just trying to empasize that unless you are a father you cannot really understand (nor have I ) that kids are not only a burden (financially and timewise) but also quite cool.
And lets be honest, of course I have times were I starve for some time alone and I wish I could just pack up my shit and go hiking and sleeping outside, but for anything in this
world there is a tradeoff.

Capitalism is GREAT, either way!! I'm married with 4 kids!! Capitalism helps me feed, clothe, and educate them at private schools (or at home).

Actually, being thought of as the rich uncle isn't so great. Everyone assumes that I have tons of money to dole out and they are not shy about asking for it. One family member recently asked me for $10,000 (I said no). Two others have asked me to pay (or help pay) for junior's college tuition. Um, no, that's not happening either. :-X
