Bird in no way "made his teammates better" than Jordan did.
Bird won three championships in 13 years with three Hall of Fame teammates in their primes (McHale, Parish, Dennis Johnson). Jordan won six championships in 13 years with one Hall of Fame teammate in his prime (Pippen).

Bird had to face Magic and the Laker, Isaiah and Detroit, Dr J. and Philly, Samson and Akeem...nothing compared to the dilluted mid 90's NBA.

Jordan is the one who ended the bad boys reign, not the Celtics. He also won his first championship against Magic and the Lakers.

You are right about the first part. The 90 Lakers had no Kareem and Magic while still great wasn't the Magic of the 80's..I'm not taking away anything Jordan did. I think he's one of the two best players ever, I'm just saying that Bird won 3 titles in a much more competitive era. Bird would have one or two more if Bias didn't od, Mchale never broke his foot, and his back held up.

Ah the Grand old 1980s golden age of the NBA ::) There were two teams that were competitive for the title year in and year out in the 80s:
(1) Lakers
(2) Celtics
And yet people act like there were all these legendary awesome teams that the Lakers/Celtics had to slay every year. It's a myth. The overall league talent level in the 90s, 00s, and especially today is better than the 80s. This is true for every sport.

Bird had Parrish, McHale and Johnson. Jordan never had ONE player as good as any of them, let alone all three at the same time.
If Jordan played with the teammates Bird did he might never have lost a single game. He would have won the title every year, in any era.

All-time greatest white team would be: On Point-John Stockton, Shooting Guard-J. West, Small Forward-John Havlecik(sp?), Power Forward-Larry Bird, Center-Bill Walton

80s basketball was still slow as fuck...whoever said they were watching film of Jordan, obviously must have been watching that Warner Bros cartoon movie...
Jordan discussed his tactics on 60 minutes, and as it was said, Jordan had pretty much only Pippen...Bill Cartwright was okay, dude with the twin brother was above average, Kerr was good, baby-face was good, and when The worm was there he acted a fool. Jordan is the only guy who brought out the best in not just his team, but the opposing team as well...particularly New York...
Bird didn't really have a prime Mtumbo, Ewing, or Shaq to deal with...big ass centers who would take your head off ruled the NBA at that time. Also, the streetball influence---where shit was fast paced---run and gun ws the name of the game...

Modern NBA equal shit-ball.......very athletic, but too much one on one garbage. Painful to watch....hightlights are "ok" but give me the Lakers vs Celtics in the 80's and I will show you how the game is supposed to be played.
