Here's my house. I work as a teacher. My wife works for our church. I love my family, my God, and my country. I pay my taxes, buy local products, work hard at my job, believe in what I do, and already have to work other jobs to make ends meet. I am sorry if my luxurious home offends you, but like my job, it is now open to public scrutiny.
I do not dislike Scott Walker, but even if the only hit I take is about 10% loss in salary, I will have trouble affording my home. Further cuts to education funding could result in even greater pay loss.
I did not cause the economic collapse. I am not one of the richest 1% owning half of our wealth, assets, and income and receiving most of our bailouts. I can't even afford to live in the county in which I teach.
And I am not alone.

LOL at these fucks complaining about their pay...ALOT OF PPL WOULD KILL TO HAVE HIS PAY RIGHT NOW...
sorry asking these ppl to pay into their health and pension plans isnt unreasonable...
thats what everyone else has to do and has been doing ...
its unreasonable to think that in the current economic situation ppl feel that they should not have to sacrifice...
ask any one of the unemployed taxpayers in their district if they would be happy with his pay...then tell this guy to STFU ::)

What a whiner. All of us are dealing with a crappy economy in more than one way or another. Did these union hacks just realize what a terrible state of affairs we are in?

didn't the unions agree to all the financial concessions?

didn't the unions agree to all the financial concessions?
No unless it was done within the last day or 2...saw a union leader do an interview and he didnt want to concede the more contributions to the pension and health care plans

Union leaders offer concessions
Top leaders of two of Wisconsin's largest public employee unions announced they are willing to accept the financial concessions called for in Walker's plan, but will not accept the loss of collective bargaining rights.
Mary Bell, president of the Wisconsin Education Association Council, and Marty Beil, executive director of AFSCME Council 24, said in a conference call with reporters that workers will do their fair share to narrow Wisconsin's budget gap.
Walker's plan calls for nearly all state, local and school employees to pay half the costs of their pensions and at least 12.6 percent of their health care premiums. That would save $30 million by June 30 and $300 million over the next two years, the governor has said.

This is the first morning i've looked at this issue... and yeah, teachers have some of the best setups around. In FL, you work 3 years, and you're guaranteed a job for 30 years. You can drive drunk, scream at people, argue with co-workers and produce students that perform great or terrible - and you are guaranteed a job (and FREE HEALTH INS for yourself) for the next 30 years.
I don't know of many industries that enjoy that kind of stability. Other teachers thought i was crazy when I left ("how can you leave a guaranteed check for 30 years".

MBA, worth the investment or no in your opinion?

oh definitely! I was so frustrated as a teacher - I'm not a 9 to 5 type... I hate beuracracy, and i was bored. MBA gives you tools to start a company, run someone else's, or just do any job better. You see sustainable competitive advantages and opportunities in every room you enter.

for somebody who is trying to stay in the 9-5 area or at least explore options within that space...worth it or not?
did you get your mba from the same school as your undergrad? heard its better to get them from different schools?

I was all over the place. AA in history. BS in elementary ed. Went for another AS in computer networking (at local community college), added a bunch of computer certs and started working in that field. Then MBA at the same FL state university, a few years later.
You'll definitely get into mgmt. IMO, the best thing to do during a recession is get educated, and work when things are better. BayGBM cracks on my www.fgcu.edu for not being a top business school, which is cool, I accept I'm not going to work on Wall Street. But I thank God all the time that I made that move. it was scary, leaving teaching. no clue what to do. but the MBA just opened up doors and gave me skills to use in any job.
Granted, I lack common sense at times and am still figuring out my political ideology (family full of special needs kids bring out the lib in me, guns n capitalism bring out the repub in me, and I just like to argue)..... but the MBa is cool, very useful. Talk to more ppl that have them, see if they'd do it again. I would... sooner...

^^^^
ic ic
ive talked to a few friends that either have them or are going right now but they either had them paid for by the company or reimbursed for them. I may be able to get reimbursed but I just started with this company so I know they will make wait for a certain amount of time and probably make me agree to stay on after for a while.
I just dont know if its worth it money wise for me to pay out of pocket in order to keep my options open. schools ranging from like 40-90k just for tuition and fees...LOL shiot....
