Pretty fucked up huh?
Regardless, an impressive amount to collect from supporters in that time frame.

Both, maybe I am incorrect, but for example: the medical industry is comprised of companies who will have interest in cetian candidates who would be supportive to their interests therefore shoveling millions and millions to their campaigns making these companies far more influencal and decisive.

I'm not sure that's possible. I could see small medical groups making donations, but the larger organizations are probably nonprofits, like the American Medical Association and hospitals.
I do agree that we may see companies within certain industries lining up behind particular candidates, but what the 08 election showed is obscene amounts of money corrupted the system before the Supreme Court's decision on contributions. I guess it's possible Obama or some other candidate can raise more than $600 million, but I doubt that really makes much of an impact.

Same for the public employee unions who support candidates promising to fuck over the taxpayer. Why are they not railed against?

It's expected that Obama will hit about $1 billion in campaign donations for re-election. The repubs are shooting for that as well for their nominee.
