i can do atleast 10 in a row from a 2x10 board wich is more difficult to grip and i weigh almost 290. I feel i might be evolving into a very strong fat man that is very mobile and fast like bob from tekken

Even Jay at what appears to be 250-260... he still uses a full stack of weights to wedge the fridge up

Def singing... +/- tree involvement.

I am pretty sure I'd leave getbig forever if Falcon wasn't around. Johnnynoname and OneMoreRep are a close second and third in terms of entertainment.

You're a liar plain and simple, Joeloco.

This video was made last year. I haven't done a training video of myself in at least that long.
Title: if you can do more than 3 reps of a weight you should go up in weight
Post by: Marty Champions on February 26, 2011, 06:56:38 AM
i figure this is the best way to blast through strength and muscle gayning platues.

today i was doing some concentration curls with the 95 pound dumbells i have only gettin about 1- 2 reps per arm

standing hammer curls i get about 2 reps per arm

on upright rows with the 95 pound dumbells i get 5-6 reps per arm

on standing military with the 95 pound dumbells i get 2-3 reps per arm

chinups im getting 5-7 reps a set, thinking of strapping on some weight , either that or do those cheating one arm pullups where i grab the other arm

3 reps is kinda low, I'd say more like 6 to 8 reps max.

...

Many bodybuilders are cycling strength (3-6 reps) training with size-training (8-12 reps). Cycling is the magic word here. 3 rep training will make you stronger but not be very effective for size.

Depends on if your genes are mostly slow twitch or fast twitch. Slow twitch = endurance. Fast twitch = power. Usually you will be more predominant on one or the other so adjust accordingly to rep range.

I do low reps often. I enjoy training heavy, regardless of if its the most ideal or not to cause muscle hypertropy. I will do 2-3 reps on flat bench, squat, barbell shoulder press etc... mixed in with higher reps sets 8-12 reps with lighter weight.

Good idea to cycle.  I did a lot of one rep max and static hold training for a while and it produced results for some time but eventually I stopped seeing progress and just got very beat up.  Doing singles and doubles will bring mostly neurologic adaptation so you will see quick gains in strength, but you will not gain muscle, and the strength gains will slow and then stop within a year of this type of training.  Juicers may get better results.

Hey shifted, what protocol did you use for your static training? How long did you hold the static contraction position? Which exercises did you use? Etc?

I did a lot of bodyweight moves, front and back lever progressions, planche progressions, iron cross holds.  If you want to learn more about that type of training I recommend gymnasticbodies.com

I bought a pair of rings online, experimenting around with them. I thought dumbells were hard to stabilize.

there is a quick learning curve.  Practice the support position (above the rings with wrists turned out).
