I seem to go through a phase like that these days/weeks. No energy, and i feel like im not training correctly...
Forced reps, drop sets, supersets, straight sets seem like a joke when i do them.
No motivation at all and cant complete some sets as i would like to. :(

maybe u're overtraining.
why do you bother creating thread regarding training when you could just pm tdongz and get your answers right away ???

happens to me all the time, its just boredom .... after so many years you have periods where u just go thru the motions, cant be helped

im 4 months off now and next week im going to have bloodwork...maybe my test levels are low? I dont know..some workouts i have energy, while others i just drag.

I train 4-5 a week.....need at least 2 days of rest......if I feel lathargeic.....I stay away from the gym....at least a day or 2 of rest.
When I return.....usually have a feeling of euphoria.....ready to get back to working out. Just listen to you body...it will tell you if it needs a break.
Also....don't be afraid to raise your carbohydrates a little.
Always have some gas in the tank!

Sounds like mental boredom combined with seemingly in-a-workout rut. Take two full weeks off of any training. And take time to write down what you want and need for your future BB'ing goals. From there design a workout for those needs and goals. When workouts become more like physical labor or a job you have to do, rather than enjoyment, than you have a problem.
Any lifting can be as much as mental effort as it is physical effort. When back in the gym try exercises and workout styles that you always wanted to do but never have. Something new and different. Could even change gyms. Working at home, might invest in some new equipment, etc. Good Luck.

Take one to two weeks off from the gym completely, not even cadio.
Come back on a three days a week schedule and see how it goes.

that always seems to help............... ive had some long periods off and it tends to collerate with the depressing periods of workout boredom..
-
Yeah! and the older I get the more often I feel that way LOL

I'm kind of going through this at the moment over the last month or so - I don't have any goals and I'm just going through the motions - using the same weight for every workout and not really pushing myself past my previous best lifts. Not surprisingly my bodyweight has stayed the same and everything else has stagnated - I'm going to take a few weeks off in April and do other things and then come back to it with new purpose - I've done it before and it does work wonders.

Same for me,I guess .I was down with malaria twice in July and Aug 2010 between that I was foolish enough so as not assesing my physical condition but continuied training. Then after recovering from the second attack in Sep ,I was experincing weakness and lower back pains.I dragged myself till my gym membership got over in Jan with nagging lower back fibrosis, honestly I managed to gain back what I had lost but the poundages and functionality werent the same. Now its been more than 2 months I havent lifted weights so I have been doing bodyweight excercises/drills.This layoff has affected my mind quite a lot which inturn helped me to set up bigger goal of competing in a bodybuilding show or 2. 8)
I would like to add that I have been training with lot of ups and downs (more downs) since 2004.Eventually its an experience game ,as a phase goes on we learn a lot of things and become wiser.
Iam really loking forward to get back in gym as soon as everything is "Sorted" out :)

Those periods seem to come and go.... :)
-
Yes its days i feel i train like shit, its days when i do not not even want to go or be in the gym
-
Usually it's time to take a break when that happens.
I usually train for about 2 months. Then take a week or 10 days off. After the break my energy is way up, the pump is awesome and it's all good again.

agreed on both counts

Every now and then it sucks but these are exactly the workouts that I need to gauge my attitude... do I really want this?
After I push through these doubts/workouts I feel poised to give my best and a better road unfolds.

When you feel like shit, train lighter, but with less rest..............this way you are still very intense.
I`m talking 30-45 second rest periods between exercises, depending on the movement and the bodypart.
Do this and you`ll be hurting so much, you`ll have no choice but to stay focused/motivated.
Use a weight that makes you work for 8-12 reps or more, again depending on the bodypart being trained.

This - Im the same , then there are periods where it all comes back and everything clicks and you start training like an animal again - part of life Meso :)

Good advice here.

boredom, drug cocktails, over training, just found out ur girl is cheating on you, then sometimes, yeah just not in the fuckin mood. It happens
-
I never have a bad workout............just some that are better than others, but none really what I would consider as a shitty day.
Key is to listen to your body and adjust accordingly.
Whatever you do though, train your balls off!
-
Just make sure to gaze at photos like these before yo training ma man, as they are a surefire way to jack your test levels and your energy levels 8)

Again.. >:(
Damn those holidays... >:( cant train seriously to save my life.

some times people train to hard that imo a common problem you should hit it hard but not crazy watch hitting failure a lot on free weight compound movements such as squats, deads, bent rows, benchs once you start getting really strong a lot of people feel like shit all the time lol why do you think they take pain pills all the times lol
-
try a hit routine, dorian style, started last week and its fucking awesome!
