Military combative incorporate multiple styles, to include krav maga and BJJ.

You'd find that in the Special Ops community, a large majority of those operators would hold high ranks in BJJ (among other styles).

People forget that BJJ also has means of handling multiple attacker situations - it's not all about guard (although indeed a VERY strong component of the style).

Come on -  this clip is ridiculous.

Start standing up, on the pavement, with boots on, no punches or anything pulled, kicks, punches, gouges, all allowed, and the average bjj blue belt would fare no better than the average guy.

Bjj is ueful for some stuff, but please, pitting a life long practicioner against joe blow on a matt wit no boots n proves nothing.

Starting on the ground its better for the soldiers.

Otherwise they will not have a chance to take Rener down.

In this way they can go full force on Rener. And nobody  gets hurt on a take down.

BJJ works in MMA because headbutting isn't allowed.

Imagine if the top guy was allowed to grab the bottom guys arms and headbutt from the top position.

It would be all over

I remember the original ufc stuff.   Shamrock would enter the ring and charge gracie.  Gracie would throw himself backwards on his back and spread his legs wide like a chick inviting a guy into her........so damn funny and gross at the same time. :-X

Gracie used his robe to do holds......puss.

In the beginning was allowed and Royce won 3 times.

Not all BJJ movements are allowed in MMA.

 Heel hooks...toe holds..spine locks.

Controlling small, weak portions of the body (fingers ,wrists, ankles) wich leads to controlling the connecting strong points (arms, legs).

Another little thing if you grab onto an earlobe, you will find that is has a nice grip for you.and grabbing a person's ear is much more effective than a fishhook (you can be bitten and the lip is much more slippery).

Try pinching your knees together as you  pop up your hips while someone is in your guard? If you hit it right on the bottom rib it hurts a lot.

Under hook behind his back you can do the same thing, but it's a lot tighter.

How easy is to break a neck?

 DJJ is real. Dirty Jiu-Jitsu
