Been on the similar to paleo diet for a month now and for the last couple of days i also canceled creatine and this whey powder which was high in lactose and switched to whey isolate only as far as supplements are concerned and the difference is amazing. I just realized that i'm actually much leaner than i thought i was just due to less water retention. My diet mainly consists of protein sources like meat, fish, eggs and whey isolate(got rid of milk products except for whey isolate), carbs(fruit and vegetables, canceled all grain products, beans) and healthy fats from nuts and omega 3 supplement......it's hard to be consistent cause you're deprived of eating pasta, pizza, bread......but on the other hand i feel better and leaner overall. anybody else tried this type of diet?

I tried some time ago when still natty. Yeah i got leaner and my skin also looked better, somehow healthier and brighter. For juiced fellas I think it would be hard to get enough cals that way so I don't follow it anymore. I also think it made me kinda flat which I didn't like so much...worth trying still I guess.

So do you think that creatine causes excess water retention and bloat?

and lactose from milk products, not sure about gluten but some people that don't tolerate it experience water retention problems
-
I've heard this before about creatine causing water retention and bloat, but I thought that creatine was supposed to put water inside of the muscle, and not outside of the muscle.

Unfortunately it does both.

I'm curious L, would you say that creatine has mild steroid like properties? I ask, coz the 1st time I ever used creatine I gain 13 pounds (6 kilos) in 6 weeks, and my bodyfat level stayed the same, roughly 12%
-
Well it does help you build muscle faster, so in that regard: -Yes.
BUT as a product/compound/nutrient, absolutely: -No.
I get your point, but honestly, even if you react to creatine better than anyone in the history of time, the results from it versus ANY steroid are nothing to compare. Of course you propably gain more weight on creatine than on say winstrol/anavar etc, but the weight from creatine is mostly water and MAYBE very little muscle. In my opinion creatine is best suited for beginners and guys over 40. It's just a supplement, nothing magic...

Didn't try it. But I gues this guy would make me look bad :)

Not anything I could maintain for long....I love carbs way too much. Grains, pasta, beer, etc... :-\

I follow this to a tee when dieting! It really does work. I found once I dumped the lactose I saw awesome results.

Forget it! Just pump up every 30 minutes with small dumbbells at workplace, school, public transportation, shopping center, anywhere!!!

That sounds like me on a cutting diet for me and yes, less water is retained. Overall I feel better when less water is retained, less grains are in my diet and when I'm never overly full.

True I know one national level bodybuilder friend of mine who walks around with Moduretics, eats them like tic tacs everytime he has to take his shirt off. He can look dry in 12 hours on demand, no matter what he eats!

Creatine causes INTRA-CELLULAR HYDRATION. Not extra-cellular.
If you are holding water, take a ton of K every day. By K I mean potassium...
