Title: Apparantly i decline bench 400+ pounds for reps
Post by: Marty Champions on March 08, 2011, 02:14:31 PM
yesterday morning i had strapped on two 40 pound dumbells=80 pounds

i weighed my self with clothes on and i was 293

so i got a set of 5 good range dips on the bannister outside

i was very pleased, then i continued on with my masonic teachings in order for a more perfect existance . Masonry is a religion seeking to unite God and man by elevating its initiates to that level of consciousness whereon they can behold with clarified vision the workings of the Great Architect of the Universe. From age to age the vision of a perfect civilization is preserved as the ideal for mankind. In the midst of that civilization shall stand a mighty university wherein both the sacred and secular sciences concerning the mysteries of life will be freely taught to all who will assume the philosophic life. Here creed and dogma will have no place; the superficial will be removed and only the essential be preserved. The world will be ruled by its most illumined minds, and each will occupy the position for which he is most admirably fitted.

doesnt work like that dumb ass.

i used to dip- elbows out- with 50lb for 3 sets of 10-14. yet my bench/decline bench wasnt anywhere near my bweight + 50lb.

oh and yes, declines are a waste of time.. they are a "designer" exercise. for tools and snags who see the equipment so therefore think it must be good. decline benches should be removed from gyms.

no way...i use the post on them to stretch my hamstrings, and shoulders sometimes....and whenever i used a gym bag i always used to put it on a decline bench...those things are important!!

How long have you been at this weight? I give it 2-3 months before you develop some cardiac issues.

The extra weight isnt worth your health. Trust me.  :-X

Philosophy bestows life in that it reveals the dignity and purpose of living. Materiality bestows death in that it benumbs or clouds those faculties of the human soul which should be responsive to the enlivening impulses of creative thought and ennobling virtue. How inferior to these standards of remote days are the laws by which men live in the twentieth century

Depends on the angle of decline.  Decline benches in most gyms are at a ridiculously steep angle.  If you use a very slight decline, it will take some stress off the shoulder joints.

He who has a little more rationality than his neighbor is a little better than his neighbor. He who functions on a higher plane of rationality than the rest of the world is termed the greatest thinker. He who functions on a lower plane is regarded as a barbarian. Thus comparative rational development is the true gauge of the individual's evolutionary status.

300 pounds is a lot for any size.

It looks like hes carrying a lot of visceral fat.

For what?

Don't give me the height spiel. It means nothing.

just about. hit 435 at 230. no spot, perfect form.

u wanna compare strength? heres what my last two workoutsa looked like:

yesterday: chest shoulders arms abs

bench press 335lbs 4 sets 5 reps each

db side laterals 70lbs 4 sets 6 reps each

barbell curls 145lbs 4 sets 6 reps

single arm pushdowns reverse grip dont remember weight 4 sets

100 ssit ups

two days ago: back legs abs traps rear delts

barbell rows 315lbs 4 sets of 6 (perfect form, no momentum, lower back arched, all muscle power)

hack squats 800lbs (8 plates per side) 4 sets of 5.

lying hamstring curls one leg at a time 120lbs 4 sets of 6

seated claf raises one foot at a time 4 sets each 6 reps each 2 plates

cable rear delts 50lbs or so 4 sets of 8

barbell shrugs 315lbs 4 sets of 8.

pull ups, bodyweight, 3 sets of 3.  ;D (first time ive done pull ups, taking it real easy because i already hit my back pretty hard with the barbell rows)

leg extensions, one leg at a time, 50lbs or so, 3 sets back to back 10 reps each leg. ( just a very light pump up exercise to get some blood down by my knees.)

100 sit ups

Good lifts bro!

All time best lifts:

Bench-300 pounds at 150 bodyweight

Squat-405 at 160 bodyweight(way below paralell)315 for 3 x 10 all below paralell,370 for a triple-below paralell

Cheat Curl-150 pounds,2 x 5 reps,at 150 pounds bodyweight(slight cheat to get bar moving,then super slow negative)
also do sets of 10 reps with 135-at 165 bodyweight

Hack Squat-4 plates a side for 10

Seated Alternate DB Curls-70-5 (slight cheat at 165 pounds)

Press Behind Neck-bodyweight for reps all the way down, all the way up

Dumbell Inclines-100 pounds for 3 x 5 at 165 cleaning the dumbells by myself first.....no knees involved.

Barbell Rows-sets of 5-6 with 275 pounds

No world records, but not weak by any standards especially for my bodyweight.
