Tune in to 1:47 to see his how high he gets up
-
I bet I can outshoot him from 3pt range.... ;D
Seriously, that was incredible. And when jumping over the other guys, they weren't ducking like you see so often. Freak of nature...

when i was in high school, i could touch the rim barely. ;D i am 5'11". this guy seems to be able to get his shoulder at the same height as the rim.
i win that battle.

really impressive, how tall is the guy?
-
Looks like he has African type lower legs. Very high tiny calves. That has to be the secret. Over the next couple decades, we will see a lot of 'white" guys with this kind of jumping ability. Thanks of course to the Hierarchy and MTV.

I'm 5"11" too. There was a goal that we measured on base, outside, that was 9'10" that I could dunk on. 10ft goal, I could hit the back of the rim but NEVER got one down cleanly.....back then i was too lazy to really work on it or to do serious training. Look back on it now like, wtf? Maybe I will start a comeback !!
-
Anyway, this reminds me of the And 1 videos--dudes dunking, but other than that, they have no game...no defense, no offense...and all they work on is that flashy dunk.
If you are tall enough and athletic enough, then you can dunk...

Great video, but how did they come up with a 50" vert?

I was thinking that, since he is roughly 6ft tall and was able to get his head to level with the rim, that is at least 48"......although that would not technically be a vertical since he got a run and go at it vs the real way to measure one.

I jump for a ball at the wall and think my feet are at the fence crown...only later to be told they never left the ground. :-\

Nice..... it's all in how you personally perceive it.....haters gonna hate.

cause your comments are dumb and racist.
this kid would dunk you parker. just pick you up roll you into a ball and dunk you down the hole.

My friend was on the HS team one year, playing bench. I felt a little sorry for dude. All talent no skill.

That's not harold Miner.

Like Riley from The Boondocks?

This how you test a true vert, my guess if he tested correctly he'd be no more than 38', which is still good. This is the only way WE test.
-
I think the NFL combine would be much more watched if they lined up midgets, short people, and average people and let the athletes* jump over them for the cameras.
*Bodybuilders not included.
-
i dont see where this 50" vertical is..
oh, i see others have picked up on this also.
yes he can leap...
but an official, properly tested vert of 50"...very unlikely.

lol
i haven't seen s3 yet :( My friend is going to let me borrow the discs tho. :)

Actually my comment wasn't deleted...
And it wasn't dumb nor racist, fail again
and you must not have read what I wrote above, please read, and then go look at the And 1 videos...they are quite similar...
It's not a matter of dunking, as I had said, if you are tall enough and athletic enough, you can dunk---what is racist? Nothing
also, dunking today to many players is worth more than the fundamentals, the flashy dunk---in your face. It doesn't win games. I don't know dude, but there are literally millions of dunk videos on YouTube that feature players that have outstanding dunking ability but, have virtually no offense or defense capabilities.

You know the episode I was talking about, from season 2...all he could was dribble, and "crossover", when he took a shot...he was shooting airballs--not even close to being a brick.
-
Spud Webb
who is taller then you by 6 inches. :D
-
Spud Webb
5'7, if that...he had some spectacular dunks...And the battles between Jordan and 'Nique were epic.
AI could dunk too and he was 5'10...I think Bobby Hurley could dunk as well, he was great baller.
-
Very impressive. I am 5'11" as well and coulf dunk years back..but this is a whole other level .. showstoppa knows what I am talking about
-
If he's really 5'11" that's pretty awesome (he looks taller than that). Otherwise I've seen a tall black man do all those dunks except 1:10.
-
I dont know man. It looks like he can definately dunk, but on a couple of those dunks it looks like he floats in mid air. I think a couple were altered. Just like the michael vick, and joe montana commercials where they show them throwing like a hundred yards. ::)

That kids vertical is ALOT higher then 38 inches.
Hes doing shit guys 5'11 just dont do.
While it might not be 50 like the article says. It's well over 40.

Yep. He is doing all that shit easily. No way in hell is his vertical in the 30's. They might have rounded it up, but some of those dunks are seriously impressive for under (even if just barely) 6 feet tall.
-
THIS person is on small doses of hormones,,,loko at his delts that is from hormone use very small maybe 500 per week sustaneon 250

There's no doubt the kid did this type of test sense its available in almost every high school around the globe. Its not like its expensive equipment. People would be lining up wanting to sign him and seeing what his verticle really is. I'm guessing its 45 to 48inches and he just rounded it up to sound better. This kid has serious hops.
-
Colleges yes, high schools no, I've been to a lot of high schools and not one that I've been to has a vertec, I usually have to bring mine. And just to put things into a little prospective, Kobe's vert is 41". When you test in the vert you're not running then jumping, you jump straight up. So, even 38" would be a stretch.

Kobe is 6'8.
This dude is 5'11..
So saying his vertical is in the 40's isnt a stretch at all. And I doubt they'd just make up some outlandish number because if this kid competes in the college slam dunk contest like he's campaigning for im sure someone is gonna want to test his vertical to see if he's telling the truth.
The dude has a freak vertical leap.
Thats it. End of story.

This^ If these video's aren't fake, this is Blake Griffin territory

I would be annoyed by your idiotic post re the dude's vert if I didn't believe you were a homo floresiensis.

The kid has a legit 44+" vert.. He's jumping off of two feet, and while it's not a true no step vertical jump test, someone who can jump that high off of both feet will have a vert close to what is in the video. This kid could jump higher than Kobe could back in his late teens-early 20's. If you don't believe me, go out and jump off of TWO FEET with a running start and compare that to how high you get up without taking any steps, I guarntee you that it will be roughly 90% of your running jump. This kid is 5'11", the rim is 10' and he gets his head at rim level on some of those dunks. 10' - 5'11" is 49". 90% of 49" is 44"-45", so you know that this kid has at least that much. 38" are you fucking serious?

Be patient with the Coach, he's a neanderthal.

At the very least high 40's and I would venture to say a legit 50" vertical.
Just a still shot at 1:43 is all you need to judge his vertical on, if in fact it is a legit 10' rim (which it probably is)
I can remember about 15 years ago the gold standard was "can he touch the top of the box" on the backboard in relation to the higher vertical leapers coming out of college. Even with guys that were 6'6 and taller, if you could touch the top of the box, you had some serious hops.
Now if that is a legit dunk and this guy is 5'11, then I have never seen a guy under 6' jump NEAR that high and you would HAVE to think 50" is a definite possibility.
Of course the between the legs 360 dunks are out of this world impressive but from a pure measure of "vertical jump" I have certainly never seen anyone pull of a dunk like 1:43 and I would love to see any clip that would prove that statement otherwise.
-
I think the reason Coach said 38" is because that's the highest vert he's both personally seen and possibly gotten out of any of the people he trains. The fact that there is someone out there that knows more about improving sports performance than he or anyone else he personally knows, boggles his mind.
-
Any of you thinking that his true tested vertical leap is anywhere near what taking a running start and jumping simply doesn't know wtf you are talking about. The guy would measure an incredible one, but not 50". Coach is right.
And sev, you know it, man. Me dunking a volleyball at will simply doesn't equate to that..... ;D That guy is a true freak of nature. Still think I could out shoot and out pass him most likely.... 8)
