Title: 2011 Entourage thread
Post by: Tre on March 09, 2011, 09:43:38 AM

There hasn't been enough 'Entourage' discussion lately.  I was super-late to the party, but are they really ending one of the most entertaining shows of the past quarter-century after this season?

Is it just me, or is Ari Gold one of the best-written characters in sitcom history?

First 5 seasons were mostly written by creator Doug Ellen , he got new writers for show thats why it went to shit, seems the new writers ripped Charlie Sheens life style and made vince into Carlos Estevez

What was the moment that turned you off?  I will say that any semi-boring storylines that creeped in during season 2 were completely repaired by season 3.

I don't know if you're a sitcom guy, but 'The Office' went through a similar down period, but recovered brilliantly.  I don't think 'Entourage' fell off that much, though.

I'm still not completely caught up - I'm still in 2009 and just watched the episode with Tom Brady.  I don't like E's duck-mouthed girlfriend.  I hope she's gone soon.

Entourage's story just got boring.  He was riding high, hit bottom, recovered, then they threw him down again with the drug story line.

Plus, there's no town on Earth where E could be a tough guy.

I watch it mostly to see just how hot Sloane looks on any given week.

Very true. This show exposes the ego that Marky Mark has. Rumor has it he didn't want anyone with any size or muscle to be on the show.

A guy this good who, by all accounts, really didn't have much growing up *should* have a bit of an ego.  But nonetheless, he downplays it well enough.  You can say he's guilty of false humility, but he's a self-made man.  Sure, he got lucky where a whole lot of people didn't, but he also put in the work.

Agreed on Sloan, though - total wife material, and I don't say that lightly.

All in all, good show. Actually kept my interest through the bumps for longer than other dramatic series does.

But it's not until now that the drug story line came in to play I realized it's gotten old and passed it's peak. Even Ari too.

Don't really like that Eric, Turtle and "Lloyd" got to be so successful either. Eric obnoxiously cocky like someone said too. Everybody can't win in life, they didn't grow as characters more as they broke character.

Johnny Drama the most solid and funny character in my opinion.

i think the major part where people got tired of the show was when doug ellen turned it from a comedy to what he called a Dramedy (comedy / drama)

There was a lot of cock sucked in that family. Don't kid yourself. You don't make it in a boy band without sucking some serious cock. You of all people should know this TRe. And the fact that he hides that he really is a Jew is unforgivable in this day and age.
