Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska has come out in opposition to the House’s attempts to defund Planned Parenthood, making her the first Republican senator to do so.
“I believe Planned Parenthood provides vital services to those in need and disagree with their funding cuts in the bill,” Murkowski wrote in a letter to Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) and Vice Chairman Thad Cochran (R-Miss.). “I ask you to consider these programs going forward to determine if there is room for allowing continued funding.”

I find it funny it's called "planned" parenthood when most of the people who go there didn't plan.

actually most (~ 97%) of what they do is planning (i.e. contraception) and health screening/testing
the irony of de-funding Planned Parenthood is that it would lead to more unwanted pregnancies and an increase in STD's and cervical cancer

Can you post it? I haven't seen it.
Are we now at a point where every post I make needs to include a second anti-obama post to keep things fair and balanced? lol

Just trying to bring your "libertarian" side out once and awhile. ;)
-
the topic is plan parenthood not energy policies, not everyone has a one track mind i hate obama
-
Planned abortion is more like it.

Planned abortion is more like it.
I guess you didn't notice (or choose to ignore) that abortion is only 3% of what they do
-
don't bother the far right with facts ;D
-
Wow.....
A thread on planned parent hood with an attempted derailing to OB's energy policies. Imagine that.
Planned parenthood is a good thing. Otherwise, wouldn't there be a lot more people on welfare?

and a lot more cases of STD and cervical cancer as well

oh geez, another 'bash romney' thread... just because part of the fortune he earned was donated to help pay for what they do at PP.
-
Could care less about romney. Planned parenthood should be defunded.
We are broke. If we put most of these welfare leeches to work they would be too tired to breed like rabid dogs.
-

???
But...but, you voted for Romney in 2008 and will likely be voting for him again in 2012, PEA BRAIN!
-
So - just cause I vote for someone does not mean I agree with them all the time. I'm not a 100 percent er.
As for Plan-to-avoid Parenthood - there is no reason for us to pay for others abortions.

yet on multiple occassions you say that anyone who voted Obama rather than Bible Spice and Grandpa Simpson as being "kneepadders" and think Obama can do nothing wrong
-
Bible spice? Ahaahahahahahahhaahahaha hahahhahahahahahahahahhh a
No doubt things should be restructured, reformed, and reorganized with EVERY agency and any thing our government spends money on. But planned parent hood needs to stay.
-
Planned abortion is more like it.
Exactly. It's an abortion mill. They should get zero tax dollars.

It's so funny that you debated politics 24/7 back then - but you claim you'd never heard of Romneycare when you voted for Mitt in 08.
Rudy brought it up a lot in the debates, and he was hammered for it by pundits too.
Weird.
Unless....
wait for it......
You were cool with govt-run healthcare until it was a dem doing it ;)
-

abortions are only 3% of what they do so by anyone's standard that could not be called an abortion mill
-
They don't plan parenthood. They plan to avoid parenthood for people.

Think of all the extra millions and millions of liberals that would be around if it wasn't for planned parenthood. You should help fund them directly. ;D
-

completely simplistic view but just for the heck of it...
what's wrong with that?
-
Planned Parenthood provides many valuable services. Birth control is one of them. Their services are not "free".
-
there is to be no federal funding for abortion...to think that money that goes to planned parent hood isnt used for abortion even though planned parent hood DOES give abortions is pretty ridiculous.
-
240, I believe 99% of planned parenthood should be funded by tax payer dollars. My one caveat is that you and your ilk (having several brothers who are actually cousins and sisters that are actually aunts) will not be funded for abortions. The democrat party needs a strong white contingency to stay relevant.
