Remember those Nintendo and you had to blow into the game to make it work..But it had to be yours to make it work. If you were at your friends you couldn't do it right. It was like each system had its own trick you had to figure out.

when u think about it it's funny cause every single toy, game, nowadays, is just a derivative copy of what we had back in the day. But there's nothing really ''new''. As if we reached a wall.

Now the networks have some gay ass big eyed, wild haired Anime, and some magic school bus that shrinks. You have to go to the Cartoon Network or SyFy to see some good shit...

Cartoons used to be all about being huge jacked and alpha male. Thats why a ton of people that grew up idolizing those larger than life characters from the 80's are now misplaced in society and don't fit in with the new Sponge Bob absorbing pansy generation.

There isn't nearly as much emphasis on cartoon characters being huge and ripped as there used to be, and now kids are encouraged to stay skinny, lovable and more feminine than ever compared to the 80's hero's who were there to takeover, dominate, and fuck the girl all while looking awesome while doing so.

I used to have an Original GameBoy, remember it was black and white (or really black and green), and the sound and graphics were soooo shitty!!!

I also had a Sega Genesis... remember back then you couldn't save games (like you can now on the xbox and the PS3), so if you wanted to beat a game you had to keep playing, or start all the way from the beginning again, or you just leave the console on while you went to school... but then you would come back and the fucking game would be frozen!!!!

And yes, you had to blow hard on the cartridge to get that shit to work!!!

Cartoons today literally suck (aside from the adult cartoons like South Park)!

The worst though... the ABSOLUTE WORST.. was when your mom would tell you, Ghostbusters is on come quick, and you get all excited and run the tv trippin all over the place, finally make it to the couch only to see this shit on....

And Dragonball Z---those dudes had to have Fight Blue Balls, because half th episode was about them GETTING READY to fight aka Powering up, and the fight wouldn't be until the next episode---and it wouldn't be half as long or worthy than what you thought it was going to be.

Still had my Ms Pacman, Xevious, and Galaga so it was all good.  But that Double Dragon was a pile of shit

Yes Parker, Dragon Ball Z was just a half hour of hard boner but no happy ending. They powered up the entire time until they were throbbing and bulging with hormones/anger, then nothing really happened at the end. The actual fights weren't even worth all the epic hype..

Are you saying that they were giving a sublimal message that the more you wait, the pent up "energy" will be released in a a disappointing fashion aka Getting Blue Balls from Powering up soo much, that they couldn't fight and it was anti-climatic.

"Oooooohh! You are GONNNNNA GET IT!!! Must...Keep...Powering Up...Must...

those were the days

kids don't even have saturday morning cartoons today

E
They learn to "respect" small ethnies that rob him/her every day. Kids are given hours of therapy and pills because they are "hyperactive". Kids are shown that homessexuals experiences are natural and should be done...

(30 minutes later)

(fight ends in 2 minutes)

Ha! Its like they were prepping us for the real world and making sure we get Blue Balls while anxiously waiting for our goals. 'DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH SON!'

For real though I believe there was tons of subliminal things going on with these old cartoons. Be big and muscular, be a juggernaut, be the the 'real' man, get the women and save the day ect.. Not like that anymore at all, just flip through the cartoon channels yourself and look at all the fairy type things they got these kids watching today.

LOL,, I had a turtle named Tracy because of that shit!!!

Remember those Nintendo and you had to blow into the game to make it work..But it had to be yours to make it work. If you were at your friends you couldn't do it right. It was like each system had its own trick you had to figure out.

hahaha!  That is SO true!

Anyone know if they have the classic contra to play online?  I loved that game.

sega cd and 32x were complete marketing failures, and almost 0 game out of the very few that have been developed were actually playable/enjoyable.

i've already worked it out in my head- it's gonna be totally like "sin city"

actually, by "as I child" what I really mean is "two years ago when I was doing alot of coke by myself in my apartment"

but still- i think it is gonna be a great movie

Traded it back in for a 8 year old Atari Mega ST2 computer.  Last video game system I ever bought until the Nintendo Wii.  I only did that because I still had all of my ST software from my 1040STF.  It was actually my most favorite computer I ever had actually.

Didn't keep the Mega ST2 but for 5 months.  Since Atari Computer Studio went away in 96 and Atari went belly up, I gave it to my Mom's boyfriend to keep and bought an IBM 486SX.

I had the best system growing up in the project.  While everyone had Nintendo's, I had an Atari 1040STF computer.  When I had my friends over they couldn't believe how great my games looked as it was only 3 years old

But alas, it was 1996 and the Mega St2 was 8 years old.  It was no longer the mighty dragon slayer and I only got it because it was the only trade I can make

The good thing about the Atari is that its prob the sole reason why I have a great relationship and understanding with Jewish people.  I wanted a computer when I was a kid and I couldn't afford most of the ones out there.  I went to the Westgate Mall one day and there was a store called the Atari Computer Studio.  I saw a computer there which was 800 dollars but I decided to ask the salesperson if I could put one on layaway.  The white guy laughed and thought I was a hoodlum and almost threw me out when the owner named Sheldon stopped him.  He made a deal with me that I could pay whatever I could on a used 1040STF and a monitor until I paid it off.

I put down 20 dollars every week which was a lot (considering I was making 4.25 an hour) and bought the computer first.  I actually turned in on a few times to hear it power up.  Then I did the same for the monitor.  In all, it took about 5 months as the computer was 219 and the monitor was 199.  Sheldon got rid of that guy later on and ran it himself until the end.  He actually ran the store and his architect business and still does to this day.

I bought video games at first but over the next few years he showed me how to do a lot of things on a computer and he got me to buy software for BASIC, accounting, desktop publishing, and of course the best thing around, an online terminal program and a 2400 baud Cardinal modem which got me connected to the BBS system which of course eventually led to Lynx (the first internet browser).

I even learned the Hebrew alphabet because the Atari ST code was programmed with it.

To this day, I'm in debt to him for actually giving me a chance to show him that I was yanking in chain in wanting a computer and showing me that a computer can open up a lot of doors in life.  I mean, nowadays I make my living off the computer so its all good
