They've also got a pretty good donkey show in the exhibitor's area.

Probably too dangerous, alot of kidnappings going on in Mexico just think a Mexican schome might kidnap a pro in thongs hold him for ransom.

It's still on the schedule... I think Ron may mean that there are no O qualifications given out... Which I didn't know.

No...Ron means that "MB" isn't able to compete, as he's not a pro...he's being facetious

Ron didn't like the point being mentioned that the Tijuana Pro pays out more than the PBW Championships.

The PBW championships puts out more pro divisions, making the total purse for the event higher....TJ has only 2, open and Bikini
Whats the point you're trying to make here?

There's an actual event in Tijuana? Why?

PBW Championships: Total $35k
Open: 20k
202: 6k
Women's BB: 6k
Bikini: 3k
Tijuana Pro: Total $38k
Open: 30k
Bikini: 8k
I find it strange that a start-up pro show in a Mexican border town can offer more prize money than an established circuit show.

There is nothing "strange" about it, other than your interest....The promoter also has to pay sanctionfees, and Tim Gardner also has a NPC show attached to it. Being an "established show" is the key, as we've seen many "one and done" shows with a much higher purse over the years...

I agree that this is most likely a one and done, but who knows. If this business model works out, Robin should look into moving the Olympia to Juarez.

It's all about location when it comes to fan support...I've seen some great productions go down the shitter over the yers because it simply wasnt an area that worked, and other that surprised me with it's success.
I do know one thing, the week before the O will be a tough one to pull off, as pretty much anyone qualified will be taking a pass, and the fact thats it it TJ wont help matters...

Some of you are surprised that their are shows in Mexico. Yes, there are a number of bodybuilding competitions in Mexico each year, and quite a fan base there too. At the Arnold Amatuer's, a huge contingent of Mexican competitors competed there, and quite a few compete at the local NPC shows out here in California too.
Yes, Bob is right - different sanction fees, different costs of putting up at a venue, insurance, people, etc.

Sounds dangerous to me with all the drug wars going on, I'm not going.
