Title: Got a new bicycle
Post by: supernick on April 05, 2011, 06:09:42 AM
Been riding to and from the gym, bout 3 miles each way.  Could this possibly hinder my leg development if I do this a few times a week, but not on leg days??

When I rode 4 miles to the gym, I thought it only made my legs warmer in advance and didn't negatively affect me at all.

But Dennis told me pushing an accelerator is bad for calf development

Well you got to switch from left leg to right to keep the balance and symmetry.

You're a positive person, I like that.
Or to make both of them thin.

It won't hinder you at all.  Probably be beneficial.

Reminds me of the story of the guy here who wouldn't do 10 chinups at the playground because he was training back the next day.  As if it would have any effect whatsoever.

He probably needs to switch to a manual Transmission vs auto the clutch will help that left calf.

No, not at all. I made my BEST gains in my legs this year. You wouldnt believe but my legs have completely changed, plus they are ALWAYS lean.

Check out bicyclists in the Olympics, check their leg development, do you thing its from "squating till you puke" ::)? lol.

:-X no i meant if you think extra biking is going to improve your quality of life physically IT WONT

it may improve it in another way so that you appreciate nature and so forth and freedom to ride but nothing more my friend, youll require more sleep/rest time and more food you wont magically dodge this.

Well that is obvious, I know if I burn more cals then I need to eat more im not a nube. I was just wondering if cycling a few days a week would interfear with my leg development as far as size goes.  I didnt think it would, but some people say that spending to long on the stair climber makes there legs small too.

Genetics play a big role in this. I'm a competitive cyclist(been racing for 20 years now...  from: Track/Road/Road T/T's/Endurance Mountain Bike XC/etc) and I seem to gain more leg size with the increase of saddle time racing/training... rather than, being so catabolic that my muscles are wasting away.
