Any cops here? I have a Q please.
I'm an honorary police officer, and associate FOP member.
When I'm pulled over, should I make the officer aware of this? If so, how?

if you have a valid peace officers license for your state(tcleose here in Texas), and your commission is being held by a department, and it is of policy of said department that you ID yourself as a officer...then yes...otherwise no...

Just a card and badge issued by my local department basically saying I'm an honorary officer. No training/peace officer.

then i wouldn't do it....we have citizens police academy here that departments put on....just basically showing people of the community what we do, and give them ride alongs and such...and at the end they get a badge..but nothing official..
every year someone from that class ends up getting in trouble using that badge when they get pulled over...i am not saying you will get in trouble, but there is a big chance of it..

I am not a cop,... but I would say no...
even when i get pulled over i don't flash a badge....there is a spot on every ticket book in Texas asking for your place of employment...i just Wait for them to ask me that, unless i am armed...then i will let them know..

It would likely get you a ticket even if the officer was prone to warn you at first. Cops in general hate name droppers...So if you aren't a real live cop, it isn't worth the risk
On the rare ocassions I get stopped I wait for the "Where do you work" question before identifying myself also. They usually say "Why the hell didn't you say so??" but I've never felt comfortable just uping that I'm a cop like I'm expecting a break unless I'm carrying.

If your not on the job, don't much care what you show me. The honorary and associate FOP member cards and stickers do not mean a thing. On a side note, I don't issue too many pinches.....got much better things to do with my time.

A lot of them do suck, but there are some good people there too.
They need to weed out the bad shit but everytime we hear a story about a cop gone wild, we see the prick just got a few weeks off and is back at his job. Almost like they're giving a license to the other cops to go over the line whenever they want.

i also have a question.. why are county police usually cool and state police usually fa@@ots????
edit: this is an honest question and im not a cop-hater. i love the cops i work with and may end up as one if plan A falls through. but i've also had a few traffic run-ins with va state police and md state police and i have to say these guys are pure asshole. i'm always respectful and never lose my cool. what gives?

If you have a dead hooker in the trunk of your car, the honorary officer card might work.
For all other infractions, I would probably keep the honorary officer revelation to myself.
Then again, it really depends on the kind of cop that pulls you over.
