Title: What size TV have you got??
Post by: bradistani on April 12, 2011, 03:50:30 PM
just recently got a 40" sony bravia. a massive upgrade over our old fucked, 23" crt telly.

we watched 300 the other day. it was still only dvd but the picture quality was fucking sweet. anyway, the love scene, when leonidas makes love to his queen before marching of to battle.

i swear, i've never noticed before just how HUGE her nipples are. the sort that could have your eye out if you weren't careful.

roll on when i get a blu-ray player and real HD

pics don't do 'em justice, but just imagine 'em in 1080p  :P

40 inch Samsung 7 Series - had it about 18 months now - love it - the HD channels on Sky are amazing and you can really notice the difference - haven't got a Blu-Ray player yet but I download movies in 1080p and the picture quality is superb. My only complaint is that I wish I'd bought the 46 inch but couldn't afford it at the time.

can't afford sky  :'(

i can only dream just how good the footy must look in HD.

watching films though is just something else. i watched piranha 3d the other night. and i was seeing details i just hadn't seen before. i love that film anyway, so it will be a definite upgrade to blu for me once i get a player. it's just a real good beer and pizza fun type film.

i wouldn't mind watching blood and guts in hd, or one of ronnies dvds.

Football in HD is excellent - you can almost see the individual blades of grass on the pitch and you don't get any blurriness when the ball moves - I watch the occasional European games in HD but I didn't have it last year when the World Cup was on - that would have been good.

i tell what i do notice now though.. the crowd. you can actually see their faces and expressions . truly amazing, and it's only digital sd.

i've got a digital box, obviously. but my area hasn't switched to HD yet. so i can't wait. just the terrestrial channels in hd, will do for me tbh

i have a 42" vizio in the basement, about a 50" in the living room, and a wall mounted small (maybe 19") in teh bedroom.

i'm not some kind of a millionaire, two of those are 5 years old, and the vizio as we know is no millionaire's brand, but it's good for xbox and watching tv while i "exercise".

we had a plasma in the living room for about a week but the glare off the plasma was to much so we took it back and got the LED instead, looking back the LED has a much better picture, but they say the plasmas are really good for darker rooms

True, with current technology only slow moving scenes look good.

You can always download or watch DVD/BD

i wonder how practical it is using something this size everyday?

yeah, perfect for movies and sport. but what about watching regular tv shows. the news, for example, would look pretty ridiculous on a screen that size.

would console gaming be a better experience??

Depends on the game, I can barely play call of duty on my 74" I keep missing guys on the sides (it's so wide)
would probably have to move it another 2-3 feet back in order to see properly, but games with small characters
like grand theft auto, etc. work out great, also nhl and fifa are just right

I watch a cheesy 80ies horror flick once a month on the PC - 24" are sufficient.
Can't stand most movies.

Aside from Yankees and NFL, I really don't.....kids and wife do, but we are usually on the go. Seems foolish to buy all of them, but what can I say, I am foolish.
